Upsala Glacier - For an immersive experience of the Upsala Glacier and the local Estancia, the Discovery tour is an ideal choice. The journey begins with a thrilling 4x4 ride, traversing mountainous trails through woodlands and rivers, culminating at the Upsala Glacier Lookout, offering panoramic views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The sheer vastness of the scenery is awe-inspiring. The tour includes a visit to the Estancia, the Costumbrista Museum, and the Chapel.
Embarkation and departure take place at the Puerto de Punta Bandera (APN) at 08:15 AM on a state-of-the-art, comfortable vessel.
The cruise weaves through icebergs and breathtaking landscapes, showcasing the western facade of the Upsala Glacier, before continuing down the Cristina Channel to the Estancia’s dock.
Guests arrive at Estancia Cristina by 11:30 AM.
The duration of the stay at the Estancia is 6 hours.
A guided tour of the Estancia’s Costumbrista Museum (the old Shearing Shed) is followed by an off-road vehicle excursion, covering 9.5 km of mountainous terrain. The journey leads to the Continental Ice refuge. Participants then engage in a 30-minute hike across a landscape shaped by glacial erosion.
An exclusive viewpoint offers a glimpse of the Upsala Glacier’s Eastern front, Guillermo Lake, the Southern Patagonian Ice, and the Andes Mountains.
The return to the main building of the Estancia is scheduled for 5:30 PM, with boarding soon after. The vessel is expected to arrive back at Puerto Bandera around 7:00 PM.
