Most interesting (and delicious) food tour ever! - What a great experience! Having grown up in Brixton, Obi is truly a local expert. He shared a lot of great information about the history and people of Brixton, the commerce, how the neighborhood changed, and continues to change, the good and not so good influences on the area residents, AND the food! Oh my goodness, the food was amazing. Obi is quite probably the best food tour guide we've ever had. He's warm, funny, great with kids, and has a fascinating personal background. Here's a bit of a spoiler, you've likely seen him before. Getting a hug from this gentle giant of a man when we said goodbye, was the perfect end to our too short time together. You must go on this tour with Obi!

A Brixton tour that delivers amazing Afro/Caribbean food, historical footnotes--and genuine connections - From the moment you start the tour with Obi, he instantly envelopes you with his local Brixton insights, warmth and generosity. Be prepared...this is not your average, anonymous tour! Obi makes sure your group gets to know him and each other through actual conversations. When the tour ends, no one is a stranger. And the food! Not only did we sample delicious Ethiopian, Jamaican and Nigerian cuisines, Obi finished off our wonderful tour by giving each of us a slice of Jamaican rum cake. Truly one of the most memorable food/culture tours you can take in London!

Spectacular & So Much More Than a Food Tour - To call this a "food tour" is to underrate the experience. This is so much more than a tour and so much more than food is at issue. Yes-food is at the center of the tour. Yes-Obi the tour guide does a superb job of exposing you to an amazing array of ethnic dishes that are authentically prepared. We sampled Jamaican, Carribean, Ethiopian, Nigerian and more. The servings were generous and every dish could have won an award based on flavor and presentation. Beyond the food, the tour offers a hidden history lesson. Brixton's history tasks one with considering a range of topics, such as oppression, immigration, gentrification, poverty, public safety, resistance and more. The setting also makes this tour special. Brixton has an abundance of stores, markets, shops and restaurants. During the stroll, you witness the area from the vantage point of the locals so you leave with an unaided view of life in the area. During the tour, you might even meet some of the living legends of the area, such as Obi's mom who just happened to be shopping the market the day we toured or the man depicted in the mural for his efforts to ensure sanitary restroom facilities at the Brixton Market (both depicted in the photos). The guide Obi is a great storyteller, a knowledgeable historian and a delight to interact with. He has a wonderful rapport with the cooks, restaurant owners and Brixton merchants that makes access personal and intimate. Obi also does an excellent job of improvising so the unique desires of each person on the tour can be accommodated. Being on this tour feels like being live on the set of an episode of the "Black Anthony Bourdain Show." This is a MUST!!!!!!

Fabulous Afro-Caribbean food tour in Brixton - Obi is the best. Really. Everybody writes that in the reviews but it is true. Perfect overview of Brixton's Afro-Caribbean history, food and culture. And did I mention that Obi is the best? One of the standouts of our London trip.

Food and history = Best Day Ever! - OMG I cannot tell you how much fun I had. Local tour to learn about Brixton and its multicultural history AND trying a variety of exotic foods - and learning the history of those foods. Food and history - history and food! Could not have arranged for a better time. Had the hands down best blackened fish I could ever imagine. Obi is the best! Hope to be able to do it again sometime.

A must do in London - What a great tour this was and an amazing guy Obi is. I've been living in London for 9 years and never saw Brixton this way. He is born and bread Brixton. Has great passion for the area and the culture it represents. Knows every one. And certainly knows the best spots for great food. It's not just a food tour. It is history, culture, story of change and creating small communities in itself with Obi followers. 😆 I can't believe this is the only Afro-carabean food tour in London. Thanks Obi for the great tome, sharing your story and making us falling in love with Brixton.

Excellent Tour with Food, Culture, History, and a brilliant Local Guide - Let me just start with saying this was an excellent tour from start to finish, taking in a couple of great hours across Brixton Market with an excellent and engaging host (Obi), packed with amazing stories, great company, and absolutely delicious African and Caribbean cuisine courtesy of some of Brixton's finest spots. Obi highlighted and gave voice to Brixton's storied history and culture along the way, in the way that only a life-long resident of the community and the neighbourhood born and bred can, with passion, warmth, genuineness. Highlighting landmarks and key-spots that would be easily invisible without a local guide, Obi's personal connection and love for his neighbourhood shone through across the tour. He was the perfect guide throughout, making sure everyone was having the best time. The food itself... what can I say, as we stopped off at eateries and stalls, this was wonderful - Puff-Puff (what a discovery!), Jollof Rice, Jamaican Patties, in particular stood out for me. As previous reviews have mentioned, if taking the afternoon tour, to get the best out of it, it's probably wise to approach it with an empty stomach, as the food is delicious, and exceptionally filling and plentiful. I would recommend this tour highly, and would do it again in a heartbeat - Thanks Obi!
