Highlights

Cusco to Santa Maria\n\nCusco - We depart between 7:45 am and 8:00 am, gathering at the reserve office of Cusco Srl. Our adventure kicks off as we leave Cusco, offering a sweeping view of the city before heading towards Chinchero / Ollantaytambo.\n\nWe’ll ascend on the right-hand track to reach an elevation of 4350 meters above sea level, arriving at the Open Malaga. This spot is highly mystical, often the site for offerings to the earth.\n\nIn clear conditions, or as advised by the guide in foggy weather, we’ll dismount from the vehicle to begin our cycling journey. This route is considered one of the most stunning in the world, rivaling the trails of Coroico in Bolivia. As we bike downhill, we’ll witness the vast Convention Valley and its changing flora - from dry shrubs at higher altitudes to temperate zone vegetation, and finally the characteristic forest area greenery. Along the way, we’ll explore the Incan ruins of Wamanmarka and enjoy lunch on the road.\n\nAfter approximately 4 hours of biking, we’ll arrive at Santa Maria, situated at an altitude of 1430 meters. Here, we’ll rest for the night in basic lodging, have dinner, and discuss the day’s experiences and the upcoming trek with our fellow travelers.\n\n### Day 2: Santa Maria to Santa Teresa\n\nSanta Teresa - A vitamin-rich breakfast awaits us, featuring bananas, oranges, papayas, and other local fruits (juices). We’ll then set out on a trek filled with unforgettable adventures.\n\nOur path takes us through lush vegetation, where we’ll see coffee cultivation and the harvesting of the Inca’s sacred coca plant. We’ll tread on original Incan trails, absorbing the history and the purest air. Later, we’ll have the opportunity to soak in the medicinal thermal baths of Santa Teresa.\n\nWe’ll then arrive in Santa Teresa town, where we’ll dine and rest, preparing for the next day’s journey.\n\n### Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes\n\nAguas Calientes - We’ll start a bit later today, enjoying a breakfast also rich in vitamins (juices).\n\nAt 9:45 am, we’ll embark on a hike to find suspension bridges and cross the sacred Vilcanota River of the Incas via an oroya. This part of the adventure is thrilling and tests our adrenaline. Along the way, we’ll appreciate a variety of butterflies, parrots, birds, and insects, and visit Inti Watana (the Solar clock).\n\nLunch will be at Hydro, featuring the world’s finest avocados and typical soups. Finally, we’ll arrive at Aguas Calientes, our last resting point before the highlight of our trip. After dinner, we’ll receive final instructions for the visit to Machu Picchu.\n\n### Machupicchu to Cusco\n\nMachu Picchu - We’ll rise early for a trek to the first wonder of the modern world, Machu Picchu, starting at 5:10 am to catch the sunrise.\n\nWe’ll ascend from 1980 meters to 2450 meters above sea level, taking our boxed breakfast en route. The hike takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.\n\nWe’ll then tour Machu Picchu with a professional guide for about 2 hours, after which guests can explore independently.\n\nGuests must make their way down to the town of Aguas Calientes in about 40 minutes to catch the train back to Cusco, concluding one of the most beautiful and comprehensive journeys in the world.

Incredible adventure that we would definitely recommend and gladly do again! - We did this tour in April 2024. It was absolutely incredible!! Would definitely recommend, as the tour was a daily adventure. Our guide was David, a person so kind and passionate about anything nature related that he was able to tell us every single plant or animal name in multiple languages and left us with so much knowledge and full hearts. Peru, Cusco and this adventure was a dream come true. Every day we had different activities, combination of adventure but yet very connected to local culture and life of local people. One tip- bring some cash with you to support local families on the way by buying some fruits or water as you pass through during your hike. We are a young couple of the age of 30 but this adventure is something that families can also pariticipate in, the level of difficulty depends on you and you can chose your tempo. One big hug and a kiss to David and his family and we can’t wait to come back again!

4-day Inca jungle route to Machu Picchu with Reserv Cusco - The 4-day Inca jungle route with Reserv Cusco was an amazing experience. It was well organised and very fun. We even had a briefing the day before the trip, to prepare ourselfs as good as possible. The trip itself was fantastic. We had a different activity every day. Everything was well prepared, we had good hostels and food and you didn't have to think about a thing. Our guide was John/Big Daddy, who was very knowledgeable and in general just fun to have in the group. It really felt like he is part of the group. We were very lucky to have him as our guide. Overall, we are very happy we chose the tour with Reserv Cusco and want to thank everyone involved!! So a big thanks to Big Daddy, Arturo and Mirko!!

Adventure of a Lifetime - This was truly the adventure of a lifetime! The trip began by meeting with Arturo, the day before, where he went over the schedule and answered all of my questions. The next morning was pickup time and from there until the end of the trip was non-stop awe and adventure. Each day I woke up looking forward to the next and I was never disappointed. Our group comprised of three travelers and a guide. I really appreciated the small group size, I felt like a VIP. Our tour guide was Johnas. His is the best guide I could have asked for. He is extremely knowledgeable about the local flora, fauna and culture. Every tree, fruit, bird and butterfly is known to him. He took the time to impart his knowledge to us every step of the way. Our hikes were not just walks tough the jungle, but a learning experience about the environment and culture. Additionally, he catered to our every need. Whether it was acquiring extra pepper for our food, meeting our dietary requirements, taking endless pictures or providing a recommendation for our group foot massage (highly recommended), Johnas was on it. Thanks Johans!!!! To my fellow travelers, you made this trip truly special and I will forever treasure the time we spent together. If you're thinking of taking this trip, do not hesitate, go for it!

Unforgettable experience! - I had the most amazing experience with Reserv Cusco on the 4 day 3 night jungle tour to Machu Picchu! Our tour guide Big Daddy (aka Jhon) and Mirco were very knowledgeable and fun to be around which made the tour even more enjoyable! It was great being able to do different activities during the tour (as well as trekking) - I loved the mountain biking and zip lining and heard very good things from people who decided to do the white water rafting too. The tour was very well organised from start to finish which meant I could just enjoy every second of it stress free. The food and accommodation was also very good and we got to learn a lot more about the culture and history of Peru! Being a solo traveller I was a little anxious of doing this by myself but I did the tour with a lovely group of people and would recommend Reserv Cusco to anyone else travelling solo 😊 A massive thank you to Big Daddy, Arturo, Mirco and King Julian!
