Manaus, a two day odyssey by land and river - We recently spent two days (an overnight on board cruise ship) in Manaus, the furthest western most port on our Amazon River cruise. Day 1 we booked ourselves a "doBrazilRight" 7 hours 5 agenda boat tour that took us 30-35 miles further west than cruise ships can travel. The guide was terrific throughout the day. Here's what we did: we went to two places and were taught why the "Meeting of the Waters" do not mix. We went to a floating Restaurant Selva Anazõnica on Lago do January (beverage and buffet line lunch included in the price) [souvenirs here quite expensive]. We then walked a raised wooden walkway through the jungle to view the Victoria Amazonica Water Lilies. (Truth be told, there were but 50+- lilies most of which were 4-6' diameter. We then went to Boto Jacaré Ubal Turismo for up close and / or hands on with 3, maybe 4 Pink Dolphins. They come freely from the open water when the tour boat ties up and folks get in the water. After that we went to the opposite shore to visit an Indigenous tribe of about 100 who welcomed us in their huge chickee building with music and dance. Day 2 we took a Holland American Cruise bus tour of the Mercantile building...here you have a WIDE selection of souvenirs. We then took a city bus tour which included a lengthy visit into the Teatro Amazonia, the 19th century Opera House built by the rubber barons. We were very lucky that during our visit the philharmonic orchestra (strings only) were in full rehearsal mode.

Great Tour of Manaus Highlights - This ended up being a private tour for us, in a very comfortable Chev SUV with A/C. The guide and driver ensured we saw everything on the itinerary, including Manaus Opera House, old City Hall and Library, Market, etc. The guide's english was exceptional. He answered all of our questions, and ensured that we returned on schedule.

Very good tour!! - A walk getting to know the most beautiful things about the city of Manaus. Very well guided by Rodolfo with the right explanation, in Spanish, to make it a good experience. The Theater inside is amazing. That only gives meaning to the walk, but everything is great

Personal and knowledgeable - We did not realize that we had scheduled our 1/2 day tour of Manaus on a holiday, so Rudolpho contacted us to adjust our beginning time so that we could visit public sites before they closed for the day. We toured the Teatro and several important buildings before stopping in the open air market. Car was cool and Rudolpho handled all entry fees as well as provided fresh bottles of water. At the end of the tour Rudolpho provided very helpful suggestions on what we might want to do next.

Great experience. - Rodolpho did a great job with the historical aspects and history of Manaus He was prompt polite and his English is great. My only complaint is that I had to pay for two people in order to get this tour. It was private and very enjoyable.

Beautiful Hike - The weather was hot but the hike was worth it. We saw many waterfalls and a large cave. Our guide, Henry, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the park and the sights within the park. The picnic lunch was good and healthy. Bring your bathing suit as there are quite a few areas to take a quick dip near waterfalls.
