Imperial Heart of New Delhi: Early Morning Bicycle Tour

Embark on a morning cycling journey in Delhi. Cruise by some of the city’s well-known landmarks, pausing now and then to capture a photo. The bike tour begins at the crack of dawn, 06:00 a.m., offering routes devoid of motor vehicles. Traverse through the impressive structures of Lutyens’ Delhi, with a breakfast break before the tour concludes.

Highlights
  • Ajmeri Gate - Delite cinema (5 minutes)

You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and driven to Delite cinema from where the biking expedition will start.

Ajmeri Gate (15 minutes)

This is a majestic gateway built in 1644, that leads you from Old Delhi to New Delhi. It was the site of India’s First War of Independence in 1857.

  • Paharganj - Paharganj (15 minutes)

As you drive past New Delhi Railway station, you will approach the commercial site of Paharganj, a backpacker’s paradise. Several budget hotels and roadside shops selling inexpensive clothes and designer jewellery dot the area.

  • Connaught Place - Connaught Place (20 minutes)

This horse-shoe shaped market with its colonnaded corridors and white exteriors was built by the British and was home to some of the most select stores of Delhi. Connaught Place remains closed on Sundays.

  • Parliament House - Parliament House (15 minutes)

The circular building of the Parliament House was built on the Imperial style and has an open verandah with 144 columns.

  • India Gate - Presidential Palace (30 minutes)

This 340 room mansion is the largest residence of any Head of State in the world. Situated amongst sprawling landscaped gardens, it is a fine example of Edwardian Baroque style of architecture.

India Gate (20 minutes)

This is an Arc-de-Triomphe like 140 feet high gateway that was constructed as a War Memorial in memory of the 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian army who lost their lives during the First World War. An eternal flame burns night and day at the Gate to commemorate the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the India-Pakistan War of 1971.

  • Agrasen Ki Baoli - Leamigo - Agrasen ki Baoli (15 minutes)

This is a 14th century stepwell situated right in the heart of New Delhi. The well is built on three levels and has 108 steps leading down to the base of the well.

Dhobi Ghat (15 minutes)

Located in the commercial hub of New Delhi, Dhobi Ghat is home to a community of washermen who have been engaged in this trade for the last several decades. Take a look at the ways of this group of washermen in a day and age of washing machines. From here ride back to Delite cinema, for the end of the biking expedition.
Once your tour will be finished you will be driven back to fixed point / your hotel.
