Explore the environment surrounding Norcia in a journey that reconnects with history, through a region that has witnessed substantial geographical development. The Santa Scolastica walkway is a trail that reveals the valley where the city is founded, a location that forms the western border of the Monti Sibillini National Park.
The exploration happens around the outer rim of what was formerly a large lake, and, throughout the excursion, we’ll have a chance to pause at various locations featuring integral aspects of the land: farmhouses, majestic trees (among them, a particularly old oak, potentially the oldest in Umbria) and the unique landscape of the ‘marcite’ (which is a grassfield inundated with a thin layer of water), artificially established over a millennium ago.
