Amazing hiking tour of lava tunnel! - This was an amazing hike through a lava tunnel! Our guide was funny and also very knowledgeable about the geology and formation of the tunnel. He made sure that we stayed together and no one got left behind. Safety was his primary concern and he told us about the trail possibly being wet and/or icy. We got some amazing pictures and the guide took pictures of everyone that wanted one. I would highly recommend this tour!

Excellent - on 12 april 2024 we took a tour to lava tunnel with Reykjavik excursions. Meeting point was in BSI bus terminal. Departure at 9:00 in a small bus. The driver was nice and welcoming, and he drove carefully. We reached the lava tunnel in around 50 mn. There we met the guide Soley. She showed us how to put the crampons, the helmet and they even offered us to use a stick to avoid slipping. The lava tunnel is amazing: red color from iron, yellow color from sulfur. Soley was a great guide , she was very informative , funny, nice and smiling. She explained how this tunnel was formed , the ice formation inside it, the colors … i definitly recommend this tour, especially with Soley.

Beautiful ice stalagmites too if you go at the right time of year - This was such an incredible trip to do in April when the cave was full of ice stalagmites that almost looked like ghosts. I've been in several caves around the world and have never seen anything quite like this - magical! The tour guide was really knowledgeable and pointed out the different types of lava that showed how the tunnel was formed and how the lava had cooled. You are slip-on crampons and a hard hat to wear with a torch and we were also offered poles. I didn't take one and would do so next time as it was a bit slippery in parts on the way in. Well worth it if you have a spare half a day in Reykjavik. We took the transfer out there which was quick and comfortable too.

Magical ice formation and lava tunnel experience - We were very much looking forward to this tour but we totally underestimated how incredible it would be. The season was perfect because the tunnel was filled with spectacular ice formations which wouldn’t be present in the summer. The driver was prompt and the tour guide was very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable

Uniquely Amazing - If you have a love for volcanoes and/or geology, this tour is for you. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. The tunnel is absolutely stunning; every nook and cranny tells a story of Icelands history. I could have stayed inside for another hour taking it all in and taking pictures. The tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. She made the experience much more enjoyable.

Unique Experience - The cave is spectacular. The colours, the ice formations and the rocks are unique. Being in total darkness and no sound is special. The tour guide made the tour great.

March 2024 Lava Tunnel - We visited the lava tunnel March 2024! It was very cool. They give you helmets with lights and crampons to go on your shoes to help walk easier on the gravel and possible ice. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained well how these lava tunnels are formed/why everything looks the way it does. I recommend going in winter if you can so you can see the ice formations that are created by water dripping down small cracks in the ceiling.
