Unforgettable experience - From where to start to review Janaka Safaris. Our experience was incredible especially because we had the one and only Sudu on board. This guy went above and beyond to make our visit memorable and make sure we see all the animals and we actually did. He has more than 20 years of experience in the park, he is the Wikipedia of Yala national park. His knowledge is unbeatable and he knows the jungle by heart with the behavior of each and every animal. He respects the park and the animals, he considers that we are at their home so we need to behave and respect them. We will never forget this guy neither this experience, we learned a lot and loved every moment.

Superb day out and saw everything! - Ish was a great host who remained focused and committed to finding us as many animals throughout the day. This paid off and we saw a bear and a leopard. Ish was great! Be aware there is a 2 hour lunch break in the middle of the day we weren’t prepared for - the park closed for this time so this is not specific to this tour. Great day out nonetheless!

Amazing Safari - We made a whole day safari with Sudu and it was an amazing experience. Sudu is very kind and has a huge knowledge about wildlife and the nature, by which we were impressed. He made a lot of effort that we could see many different animals and also two leopards. The trip included breakfast and lunch, which was very good. Thank you Janaka Safari for this unforgettable day!

Very hot but worth it - The driver worked hard to look for leopards in many places, and finally saw a mother leopard and a cub drinking water. It was super lucky. Thank you Ish driver for your hard work. It is definitely recommended to find him~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The most magical day! - Our guide for the day was Sude; he was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about the park and the animals. He gave us two options when we got to park to decide as a group, whether we wanted to follow the usual drive with the rest of the jeeps and follow when another driver spotted an animal, or go our own way, and not follow the many many other cars. You might feel compelled to take the easy route and follow the other jeep drivers to ensure you see all the animals, but going off on our own with Sude as our guide gave us the most surreal and magical experience - we were lucky enough to come across three leopards all to ourselves, as well as elephants, deer, buffalo, peacocks, mongoose etc. A Sri Lankan breakfast and lunch was provided and so delicious (some of the best we’ve had on our trip!) we were also given fresh fruit and some biscuits - you definitely don’t go hungry! The whole experience was definitely one for the memory books and something we won’t forget! Thank you Sude!!!

We were very lucky to see a leopard 3 times (once very close), mostly because of our great driver Ish! - This safari was excellent! We were picked up at 5:00, to be early at the gate of Yala National Park. The driver (Ish) told us that he would first search for 1,5 hours only for leopards, and don't stop for other animals, because of the higher chance of seeing them in the morning. Initially we did not find a leopard, but later that day we have seen one far away in the bushes and one in a tree. Our driver (Ish) did not stop here with searching for leopards. He had contact with other drivers and was called multiple times. When he was tipped about a leopard by another driver, he drove very fast to that place, to ensure us the best view. He signed at other jeeps to make room for our jeep to see the leopard as well and gave us the best views. The third and last time we saw a leopard that day, the leopard was only 2 meters away from our jeep. Be aware that we were very lucky and that it is not common to see the leopards that well. But to have a high chance of seeing them, I highly recommend Ish as your driver. He is a very experienced driver and really wants you to have the best view, even if he had to block the view of other jeeps. In the trip also a breakfast, lunch, water and 2 binoculars were included.

Good guide, too many hours for so few animals - The guide was very nice and helpful and he tried to make the most of our experience. However, we found the safari too long and the place to have lunch does not offer appropriate conditions: there’s no toilet paper in the washrooms and the smell is awful. There are no facilities where we could buy some drinks, souvenirs or have some coffee.
