Highlights
  • Longqing Gorge - After morning pickup at your Beijing hotel, travel in a private vehicle to the Longqing Gorge (Longqingxia Gorge), located about 55 miles (90 km) north of downtown Beijing. Flanked on both sides by green peaks and capped to the north by the Gucheng Reservoir, built in 1981, the gorge offers peaceful yet dramatic scenery of wooded mountains, curious stones, and karst caves. During a 1.5-hour cruise through the ravine, feel the gentle breeze blowing against your face and enjoy the view of passing attractions like Baihua (Hundred Flowers) Cave and the Shenxianyuan (Immortal) and Jingang temples.
  • Guyaju Caves - After the morning boat ride, enjoy a lunch of regional cuisine at a famer’s house. Continue on to the Guyaju caves, a multi-village complex of more than 170 dwellings carved directly into the rock face. Believed to have been carved by an ethnic minority called the Xiyi between the Tang and Liao Dynasties, the remarkable caves resemble ‘ant farms for humans’ and consist of rooms of varying shapes and styles complete with doors, windows, kitchen ranges, and closets.

After the full-day tour is finished, you will be transferred back to your hotel in downtown Beijing.

Natural beauty - Suzie was an excellent guide with great English language skills. Both the gorge and cave dwellings were beautiful and unique. The time of year for this day trip was excellent - not too hot, not too crowded (the first week of October is the very busy National Holiday in China - avoid sightseeing during this week). Also Suzie’s EV NIO car was super cool.

JUST WONDERFUL! - First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Jeffrey for making my entire journey, from the initial pickup at the hotel to the final drop-off at airport, absolutely wonderful. He not only proved to be a well-mannered tour guide but also became a great friend to me during my visit. The destinations we explored were truly breathtaking, and I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone includes them in their must-visit list.

Great way to see the sites - Lisa our guide showed us around and we had a great day, we ended up booking her for 2 more days and other tours as it made our short stay in China that much easier. She even arranged private transport for a night tour of the Great Wall.

"Gorgeous" and Fantastic day - After 1.5 weeks in china (shanghai, suzhou, hangzhou, beijing), this was one of my favorite days. Perhaps I was just ready for some great scenery, this certainly fulfilled that with the river cruise. And the caves were very interesting, as well as scenic, a little like USAs anasazi cave dwellings of mesa verde. Also, our guide, Jerry, was truly excellent ... spoke great English, letting us set the pace, asking what we wanted, as well as filling in with history and explanations. He also helped get us a delicious traditional meal even though we had very challenging diets. Additionally, he suggested a great evening show (Golden Mask Dynasty) and helped us procure the tickets. Also, our driver, mr. Hu, could not have been better. He was conscientious to make sure we always had water, used a translate app while jerry was getting tickets, to see if we needed facilities, plus waited for us after the evening show to take us home. Both were a great team. Just be aware, it is about 2 hours each way given Beijing traffic ... but plenty to see and talk about along the way. Highly recommend this tour

Good scenery break from the city - Beautiful place but a bit far journey out of Beijing. Nonetheless a good scenery trip to take a break out of the city! The tour guide Daisy and driver is helpful and friendly. Lunch is sumptuous at a local restaurant.

Gorge Cruise and Guyana Caves Great Last Day in China - Thank You “Lisa” and driver “Tschai” for an informative and enjoyable final full day in China. Our two week adventure in China completed in the Beijing area with an culturally informative two hour drive to the outskirts of Beijing to the Longqingxia area next to where the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held. The quaint mountain tourist village houses a host of activities including various rides, a cable car to the peak, hiking trails, and an unusual ride up the long curving Dragon escalator to the top of a 60 meter dam that closes a narrow gorge with sharply rising canyon walls with small trees in beautiful Fall colors. Lisa was flexible with our desire to not do the peak hike today as we were still a bit sore from 3 days of serious hiking including a 7 mile stretch of the Jianjou to Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. The short boat tour in the cool shadowed waters of the gorge required we wear jackets to stay warm in the damp 50 degree F temperature. She guided us up to the 600 year old Buddhist Temple where we rang the old bell three times for peace, luck, and success. If you are inclined to paddle a boat in one of the canyons or bungee jump over the greenish gorge waters, you can join the adventurous few. We chose to take photos of a group of young Chinese chefs take the leap. My wife and I were disappointed in the lunch provided. It was a simple villager meal of rice, fried eggs, cooked lettuce, and fried bits of chicken. Lisa and our driver took us to the unusual 1000 year old Guayana man made Caves for a moderate hike of paved paths and stairs in and around “apartments” carved deep into the natural granite of this unique canyon. All in all we enjoyed our day with “Lisa” and would recommend.

Great Tour Guide - I really enjoyed my day visiting the Gorge and cave dwellings. Lisa was a terrific guide. Very personable, easy to converse with and a delight to be around. The driver was also excellent and spoke English. The clean newer minivan was a bonus!

+ Beautiful place to visit, - charged more than advertised - Highly recommend going to this tour, and its very valuable to have a driver and guide to get you there - otherwise, it's pretty remote and could be very hard to find. Truly a beautiful area. I am a woman travelling alone and usually like to get a driver and guide for this reason but in this case, I did not feel comfortable with the guide and driver I was given through this excursion - to the point that I messaged my hotel and family with all my details in case I did not get back by a certain time. Also disappointing, I was charged a much higher price than was advertised on the sales page, and viator/trip advisor did not refund the difference. BIG PICTURE: VISIT THIS AREA BUT NOT WITH THIS TOUR
