- Mutianyu Great Wall - You will be picked up from your hotel lobby at 8:00am and your guide will lead you to your private minivan and start the tour.
Drive about 1.5 hours to the Mutianyu Great Wall. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is a masterpiece of restoration, with 23 original-style watchtowers. Upon your arrival, you will have some time to discover this amazing creature by yourself! You will get on the Great Wall either by chair lift up and toboggan down from at tower 6 or cable car round trip at tower 14.
- Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - After the hiking, it’s time to have lunch in a local village for the authentic Chinese food. The sample dishes:
Gongbao Chicken
Local mushroom and pork
Onion pancakes
Muxu porkÂ
Sweet and Sour pork/chicken
Egg or soy sauce fried rice
Spicy beans
Board on the minivan again, and head to the Summer Palace. During the 1 hour drive, your English speaking guide will tell you more about the imperial palace before you visit there. The Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden and palace in China.
Your full-day tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Beijing.

Amazing tour with Lucy! - The trip with Lucy was amazing! We went to the Mutianyu Great Wall and summer palace. Lucy was so kind, thoughtful, considerate, and knowledgeable. She made the trip significantly more enjoyable and pleasant. This was a highlight of our China experience. I would highly recommend booking this tour and asking for Lucy! We also appreciated her flexibility with my friend and my changing requests as we saw new tourist attractions within the summer palace.

We recommend this tour... - We recommend this tour especially in the early morning (7:00 a.m. from the hotel which will take only 45 min. to the great wall) in order to avoid the crowded tourists. Very nice scenery with a few tourists. The tour operator did the well organizing of the route, time, and the professional guide, Yan. We used the lift-chair to the great wall then walking, and climbing up to another wall section and finished our tour by taking the carriage like the slider without the queue, vey funny. For lunch included in the itinerary, we had it at the local restaurant with traditional tasting. During the afternoon, it’s the tour at the Summer Palace, recommend to take a boat to view the lake with extra expense, 100 yuan/adult. and get off at the residence area to explore in deep with the interesting history of this palace.

Awesome guide makes this tour worthwhile. Great Wall and Summer Palace is a MUST. Good learning experience. - We booked a day trip to Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace. Our guide Alice Ji is the best , friendly approachable and most informative! From the time she fetched us from hotel with a driver at 7.30am till we reached back at 6pm ...she was very knowledgeable in history telling us about different provinces and history of old ..answering our queries in good spoken English. She took many pics of us and collated into an album for us and showed us the different parts of the wall with full explanation..even took video of us toboganing down . Lunch was a good buffet spread with a good intro of jade carving factory and tea appreciation thrown in free. Summer palace was so full of history stories .. Thankful to Alice showing us around the many significant buildings.. I would have been lost just going around myself. Wonderful quiet but fast driver with a comfortable car .Recommended tour ..will definitely book Alice when I go back to Beijing. . we have become friends in WeChat!!

10/10 Experience - We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide Alice, who was amazing from start to finish. This was our first visit to China for our honeymoon, and Alice was so informative and helpful. Her storytelling made the tour so enjoyable. We found the history of the Great Wall fascinating and the architecture within the Summer Palace so beautiful. We would definitely book with Discover Beijing Tours when visiting in future.

Great Value, great tour guide, great lunch & excellent tour! - Jack is a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable, considerate, flexible, good communicator, detailed-oriented and helpful. He conveyed good and insightful information before we arrive at point of location of interest. Lunch is great. I was expecting something simple and cheap such as the steam dumpling, but was served with FIVE very good and Beijing authentic dishes for lunch. Driver is also courteous and prepared bottled water for us. Value of this tour is GREAT. Overall, I would rate this tour as EXCELLENT and I rate this as 10 out of 10.

Perfect day! - We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion. Our guide Lucy was amazing. She spoke impeccable English and gave us excellent insights. She allowed us to take as much time as we wanted. On top of that she held great conversation. At the end of the trip, we were practically best friends. Lunch was delicious and the tea tasting was a whole event.

Amazing visit to the Great Wall & Summer Palace with Sally - Sally was a superstar tour guide. I absolutely loved her fun and bubbly nature as well as her deep insight to everything.
Sally came to pick me up on time, was super thoughtful and protective as I was a solo female traveller and she made sure no one took advantage of me whether it be in heckling or in my lack of understanding of the language.
The drive up to the wall was fabulous! The views are stunning and Sally was prepared to answer every question I had… and I had many. Then she handled all the tickets and checking in like a pro. No lines and no hassle.
Here recommendations for a toboggan ride, free tea ceremony and lunch places were excellent and catered to my dietary needs.
And not to mentions the Insta Worthing photography Sally takes. Your not only getting a guide but a private photographer!
Absolutely loved my day with Sally. For any solo females planning a trip to Beijing. I hope for your sake you get paired up with Sally!
