Highlights
  • La Citta Alta - I have lived in the upper town, the historic center of the city of Bergamo, since I was born. I live in a 16th century tower house, built on the remains of a medieval tower, which has been in our family for many generations. I love my city and especially the historic center and its villages. Growing up I discovered its uniqueness and the ancient stories that still remain alive and present in it, albeit hidden between the walls of the palaces and in the side streets. Small magical corners of the ancient city that too often are overlooked by those who visit it. Our tower house also preserves many of them, but only by entering it is it possible to discover them. I am always happy to be able to share our story with those who have the curiosity to want to know it.
You will come with me to the top of the tower but beware … without a lift. For foreign visitors, I will possibly use the simultaneous voice translator via my mobile phone. As a tribute to all participants, the Ospitality map of the Upper Town.

Additional Information

The tower house is privately owned, and visits are by appointment only; it’s not usually available for public viewing. Alongside the proprietors, visitors have the unique opportunity to experience the historical progression of the building itself, as well as that of the city’s historical center, starting from the pre-Romanesque era, through to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and ultimately to the early 20th century.

Visitors will be able to explore the interior and the top two floors of the tower, which are filled with period furniture and decorations still used by the owners. Additionally, portraits of the owners’ ancestors, as well as those of Italian monarchs, from Vittorio Emanuele II to Umberto II, can be viewed. Furthermore, the family tree and much more can be investigated. From the top floor, a vista across the city, the Po valley, and the Orobic pre-Alps is available. Originally built as a tower house, its top affords control over the entire surrounding region. It’s a journey through history.
