Mount Etna stands as the tallest active stratovolcano on the planet.
Join us for a day of exploration in a relaxed, intimate group setting where we will take in the stunning scenery, unique flora and fauna, and the extraordinary landscape of Mount Etna.
We’ll collect you in the morning from a predetermined location (8.30 at piazza Stesicoro 32, Catania or 9.15 at piazza S.Alfio in Trecastagni - KINDLY MENTION YOUR PICK UP POINT). En route to Etna, we’ll have a stopover at a village to refresh ourselves with coffee and to purchase lunch.
We’ll drive upwards to an elevation of 2,000 meters above sea level. Here, we’ll embark on a moderate hiking journey off the usual paths (around 3 hours) to witness the captivating vistas of the Valle del Bove, the largest caldera of Mount Etna, and its lunar-like deserts. From this point, we’ll have an exquisite view of the peak craters and the surrounding landscape overlooking the Ionian Sea.
Footwear, hiking sticks, and wind blockers are included in our provision.
This tour is available throughout the year.

Explore Mount Etna away from all the tourists - We had a fantastic trip with Ernesto, our driver and guide. He was an expert on Mount Etna and had many interesting things to tell us. He provided walking poles, gaiters, walking boots and windproof jackets if you needed them. Long trousers are best and also long socks recommended to stop grit getting into your feet. After an hours drive from Catania we had a stop to get a coffee, snack, and use the toilet. Then once we were kitted up we had a 3 hour walk (with plenty of stops) up and then back down again to the bus. The route Ernesto took us was away from other tourists, and we hardly met anyone else on the trip. The views were amazing, we were very lucky with the weather and saw smoke coming out of the volcano. Altogether a great day. Many thanks.

Amazing Etna trip - It was a brilliant tour with a brilliant guide. The guide had everything you needed. The was no rush so plenty of time to see everything. It was worth the money and I would recommend this tour.

Must do while in Catania and with these operators - Great day overall. Julian and assistant were great guides and gave plenty of information. You could tell their experience and expertise as they went up slowly and with intermittent breaks to make sure no one suffered from any altitude sickness. We had a mixed bag of a day, starting with sunshine, t-shirts and sunscreen to then cloud moving in at highest point and then hail storm and almost complete white out on way down. Great knowledge by Julian got us back safely. What a day, loved it, amazing scenery created by Etna.

Great hiking experience on Etna - Really good hiking program on Etna. The guides are friendly and told is interesting facts about the vulcano. The hike itself is easy, takes roughly 3 hours with a lot of stops when you can rest. Prepare for the unprwdictable weather, we started in sunshihe and shirts and endid up in jackets and hail 🙂 100% recommend

Highly recommend this tour!! - Excellent tour. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. They both spoke excellent English. It was a very manageable hike for people of all different abilities. They took lots of breaks to tell you all about the volcano and make sure people had time to catch their breath.

Insiders tour of Etna with knowledgeable guide and transport included - We were feeling quite confused about which tour to go with, or whether to go it alone, but we are so please we found Etna Guided tours. Our guide was Giuliano and he was kind, knowledgeable and patient. I would say I am only just ‘moderately fit’ and was worried it might be too difficult but it wasn’t. It was definitely a challenge but an achievable challenge as Giuliano was very aware if when people wanted to rest and managed this very well. Would recommend this company 100% as they were really professional. We also looked into going via AST bus at 8.15 and then cable car but are so glad we didn’t. Instead we were collected from Catania and hiked from Rufugio Sapienza so no need for the expensive cable car or unimog buses that others require you to use. Still got to around 2400 metres with amazing views. As it is impossible to get to the top in any way this felt like an ideal situation. This way we got real inside knowledge and didn’t hike with all the crowds- practically had Mount Etna to ourselves!
