Royal Burgh of Culross - Culross – Various parts of Culross are used to represent the village of Cranesmuir, mainly in season 1 of Outlander. Notably, the Mercat Cross (situated in the center of Culross) is where Geillis Duncan’s house is located, where Jamie frees the young thief pinned to the post, and where Geillis is taken to be burned for witchcraft. In season 4, Briana encounters Laoghaire and Joanie near the Mercat Cross while seeking passage to America. Joanie and Briana are seen tending a garden outside a house close to the Mercat Cross, though the interior of Laoghaire’s home is depicted by the nearby Culross Palace.
