Additional Information

Explore the city from the perspective of an enthusiastic local. With no predetermined schedule, you have the flexibility to tailor the tour to your liking or allow the local to guide you for a profound comprehension of the city. Make your journey about the individuals you meet and not merely the sights you visit. With our on-foot explorations, you’ll bypass the routine historical excursions and get to experience the city through an inhabitant’s perspective. Embark on a tour that will change your travel perspective, placing equal importance on the people you encounter as it does the sights you explore. Our local Lokafyers are fervent about their city and ready to share their understanding and viewpoint. As Lokafyers are not career guides and only do tours occasionally, they offer an experience that feels genuine and personal, akin to a friend inviting you to tour their city. By the end of your exploration, you’ll feel at ease navigating the city and assured that you possess all the required information to fully enjoy your visit.

  • Lokafy tours provide a general overview of the city with practical information from a local’s perspective, not detailed historical facts
  • In case travellers would like to include a visit to an attraction, they would need to cover the cost of entrance for themselves and also the Lokafyer (local guide)

Well worth it - Luke was our guide. He was great; very knowledgable about the history of glasgow. He was also very passionate about the city. I enjoyed the tour. It was well worth it.

A great "Local" experience - Was not sure what to expect. Guide contacted to get a little background about us. She chose all of the "right' locations. We had a great collection of discussions about her background (PhD in Marine Biology) and how it relates to her current life in Scotland. Locations were just what we wanted to see. Not just the tourist spots. Everyone should try a tour of this type.

Excellent tour of the city - Anna is a knowledgeable and friendly guide through Glasgow. We got a great overview of the city’s iconic sites and history. Walking almost non-stop for 5 hours, however, may be a bit much for some. If so, consider a shorter tour with Anna.

Guide was very friendly.... - Guide was very friendly. But she is a student from Mexico. Would have been cool to get a tour from a local who grew up in Glasgow.

Ugh - Worst tour we have ever taken and we have travelled the world for 55 years. The guide was very nice and he tried his best but Tobias is German, not Scott. While his accent was understandable most of the time, it made the conversation somewhat difficult at times. The real problem is he knew nothing of Scottish history, including the industrial history of Glasgow and feudal Scotland, which was the sole reason for taking the tour. We wasted 6 hours and a lot of money and came away with not one interesting historical fact. If I wanted to learn more about the Hapsburg empire, I would have gone to Austria. I haven’t sent my review to Trip Advisor yet but I am giving you a heads-up. Bruce Gingold

Unfortunately the tour... - Unfortunately the tour was very disappointing. We had booked a private tour by a local, highlighting hidden gems of Glasgow. Our guide was very nice but she had absolutely no knowledge of the city, its history and certainly not any hidden gems. All questions asked were met with responses of “I don’t know” or vague answers that had no relevance. It was a bad experience and we learned nothing. It was a waste of money.

Disappointing private tour of Glasgow. - Our tour guide could not answer most questions about Glasgow. We were told a few cute stories and she was a lovely person but it was not worth the money we spent. Our time in Glasgow was quite brief and we planned a private tour as a way to see the city in our limited time. It was quite a disappointment.

Terrible Tour! Guide was NOT a Local! - Our Lokafy guide was NOT a local like the description says. Lokafy appears to be the Uber of tour companies. They did not vet this guy, because he clearly had not lived in Glasgow long. Either that, or he was a hermit who never left his house. We told him we wanted to know about all the good local pubs and restaurants, must see history near the city center, and that we were huge football fans. We told him we were in town for the Champions League game, and he didn't ask which one. Huge bust right off the bat, when there are back to back CL matches this week, one being Celtic and the other being Rangers. Even a local who isn't a football fan would know about that rivalry. He was not even being a safe guide through the city, and almost got us hit by a car when rushing us to jaywalk across the street. We understand most people don't wait for the walk signal, but they at least look to see if cars are coming up to the turn before jumping into the road. He had no concern for our wellbeing or for walking at our speed or anything at all. At the end, when we found a polite enough excuse to cut the terrible tour short, we asked for a good restaurant to get fish & chips. He told us to go to the takeaway fast food chain in town, Blue Lagoon. You don't send people who have indicated their interest in local pubs and restaurants to the McDonald's of fish & chips. When we told him we would rather go to a sit down restaurant, he told us to go to the Blue Lagoon by our hotel and take it to our room to eat. I can't write out everything about how bad it was here, because I will lose the reader's interest, if I haven't already. Bottom line, it was a terrible excuse for a tour by someone who was definitely not a local and knew very little about the city as a whole. I was so hoping that we would get a good local guide for this, instead of one like the other 1 star review here, but we got a bad one. If you are on your honeymoon like us, don't risk getting a bad guide. Go for a more sure thing. It's clear that Lokafy doesn't vet their guides at all to make sure they are actual locals with enough time in a city to be a good guide to travelers.
