Wonderful experience of the universal human values of hospitality and family - I will always remember this experience of Indian hospitality, thanks to the wonderful Khatri family. I was a solo middle-aged female traveler on my first trip to India, and was missing my family, so the combination of family, food and conversation was perfect. I was honoured to meet the extended family, including grandmother, adorable baby, and neighbors. I enjoyed hearing about the ingredients and preparation of all the dishes, and I enjoyed eating them even more! As I was leaving for the magical night tour of Jaipur, I was so touched to receive an unexpected gift of a large, beautiful, large shawl in my favourite colours, and in a traditional paisley design. I was even shown how to drape it in that elegant but casual style I so admired. This thoughtful gift is now one of my most cherished possessions and a lifelong reminder of that human connection with a lovely family in Jaipur.
