Great experience for EBC trekking - That was an awesome experience. Puru, the tour organizer has always been available for questions. His knowledge of Nepal and the Himalayas is simply unbeatable. Places to stay, restaurants and even barbershops - he was always ready to assist. Puru also helped to negotiate the rates for extra services, like a helicopter ride, that I needed on the way when Lukla airport was closed for airplanes due to the weather conditions. I requested a strong and experienced guide for the mountain trekking tour and my guide, Ram is exactly that person. He knows the tracks very well. Hiking times, challenging parts, good places to stop on the way, all mountain names and heights - I was sure I could ask him any question and he'll address it. He is a strong man and it was no issue for him to speed up on the uphill part or walk 2-3 times faster than an estimated trekking time. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and I would definitely get in touch with Puru and his team again if I plan another trek in Nepal.

Customized vacation exactly as you want it! - If you are like me counting your vacation days and want to see and experience everything Nepal is offering , you should go with Above the Himalaya trekking . Puru will make a customized vacation plan for you ensuring that you see everything you want. I did 5 days trekking, Kathmandu city tour and Pokhara tour. Everything was perfectly planned. As a solo female traveler I was very nervous in the beginning of the trip. Puru paid close attention to all my concerns and the whole trip was fantastic! I did not want to spend all my vacation in the mountains, so I shortened the Himalaya trek to 5 days and opted for the Helicopter ride. I also visited a lot of historic places and museums in Kathmandu and nearby cities. The trips to Pokhara was just amazing! Puru ensured that everything was taken care of and I just had to smile, enjoy and take pictures! If you want a well organized vacation customized for your interests, you should call Puru!

Exceptional service--the guides/porters are amazing--Trip of a lifetime! - Above the Himalayas provided exceptional service for our trip to Nepal. Purushotam Timalsena (Puru), the owner, is professional, responsive, and caring. During the planning phase of our trip, Puru created two different but overlapping trip itineraries for our group of 12. Eight of us wanted the Everest Base Camp trek and the 4 other members wanted the Base Camp and the Three High pass trek. Puru arranged for the guides, porters, and flights. He met with us over zoom to answer all of questions and ally our concerns about our trip. The trip was organized, and communication was clear. Above the Himalayas really shined when we were in-country. Puru arranged side trips in Katmandu on a moment’s notice. The guides on the trek (Sitaram, Suresh, and Paladin) were knowledgeable, friendly, and adaptable. The ratio of porters to trekkers allowed us to make some necessary adaptations to our itineraries due to needs of our group—which allowed all of us to have our best trek. This is so rare. Some of our group requested easier routes and their requests were supported by the guides and porters. Puru and the guides also quickly arranged for two of our party to be airlifted off the mountain—one from AMS and the other from exhaustion. Above the Himalayas made this a trip of lifetime for me. If I am lucky enough to go back to that area of the world again, I will call Above the Himalayas first.

Excellence in Crisis Management - Most all trekking companies have good guides and porters but very few guiding companies can provide the level of expertise and service when a medical emergency occurs. I was at Everest Base Camp where I developed significant symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness and High Altitude Pulmonary Edema. This was recognized immediately by the guides who corresponded with Puru Timalsena, the Managing Director for Above the Himalaya Trekking Company. They started the process for a helicopter rescue to Kathmandu. The helicopter arrived within 2 hours of the call and transported me to Kathmandu where I was met by an ambulance that transported me directly to the international hospital. Waiting for me at the door of the hospital was Puru who was concerned for my health and well-being. He stayed with me while I was bering evaluated until I was transitioned to a room for overnight observation. I can’t speak highly enough of Puru and his staff. The guides were professional and knowledgeable as the medical situation was developing and were quick to action when my health spiraled down. Puru’s reputation as a leading trekking company made what is typically a complicated process work seamlessly and efficiently to get me to a lower altitude and to the hospital for medical evaluation. I first used Above the Himalaya in 2009 and choose to use them again in 2023 due to their excellence guiding services and Puru’s commitment to a high level of customer service. I highly recommend using them as they will not disappoint.

An unforgettable epic EBC Trek & best value for money - I have to give Mr Puru 100% credit, as the owner & operator of this tourism business, for arranging a safe, comfortable, enjoyable and unforgettable trek to EBC. I would recommend his company to any overseas tourist and trekker, on the basis that Mr Puru is a reputable professional who not only offers the best value for money services, but he also can be trusted to flexibly deliver emergency helicopter evacuations, hospital admissions , capable & friendly guides, best porters, and good accommodation - all at reasonable prices. Mr Puru has access to a vast network of resources, which enables him to adapt to changes in trek plans, exchange foreign currencies at favourable rates, and also arrange local tours without any difficulties. We did not have any complaints and only benefitted from the high standards of service from Mr Puru & his team. Thank you & congratulations Mr Puru.

Everest Base Camp Trek - Puru and Above the Himalayas - Puru organised a 9-day EBC private tour/trek for a group of 2; and you couldn't ask for more. We booked last minute, we really needed someone to explain it to us, show us the ropes, make sure we had the kit, the guide, the knowledge, the plan etc ... and all you want when you book one of these things is someone you can trust, and someone who does the exact thing they say they're going to do on the day etc ... and Puru was faultless. He collected us at the airport, arranged the hotels in Kathmandu, the choppers up the valley, got a friend of his to open his kit store out of hours, sorted the best kit (sleeping bags for rent etc) and arrange for a marvellous guide and porter to meet us at Lukla - the choppers down the valley worked a treat, the entire experience was phenomenal. He understands his customers, he knows the valley, the good bits, the bits to skip, he can build an itinerary to suit any timeframe, and he can deliver on the trickier logistics, ie a helicopter where you need it/a night in a nice hotel when done and everything in between. I don't write many reviews, but this one is entirely justified - if you're looking for someone to help you with a once in a lifetime Nepal trekking trip, look no further than Puru.

EBC trek - We went on a tour with Above the Himalaya company headed by Puru. It was excellently arranged and we had the best of guides and porters. Guides- Sitaram Lamacchne, Suresh Adhikary and Phuldin were fantastic. They took good care of the group and very patient in answering questions and respectful. When a couple of our colleagues have to be evacuated for acute mountain sickness- Puru arranged it very efficiently and quick time. I would strongly recommend this company for EBC trekking.

Wonderful experience - Wonderful travel to EBC with Above the Himalayas and the team: Puru, Sitaram (guide) and Deb (Porter). As I read in another review, when you go on a 10+ days trip some things are not exactly as expected but the team was quick to act and resolve every minor issue. As Lukla airport was closed for more than 7 days, Puru manage to book a jeep to reach Bupsa and start the trek on time. Additionally, he booked another hotel for us in Kathmandu. All our needs and requests were promptly met! You can trust this agency to organize your travel. Puru will do his best to make everything possible.
