Additional Information

Langtang valley trekking is a small and beautiful valley that lies just south of the Tibetan border. It is between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Langtang Lirung (7246m) dominates the valley to the north; Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kangri (5864m) lie to the south; and Dorge Lakpa (69866m) protects the east end of the valley. The area was designated Nepal’s first Himalayan national park in 1971. This high and isolated region is inhabited by Tamangs whose religious practices, language and dress are much more similar to those of Tibet than to the traditions of their cousins in the Middle Hills. Langtang valley trekking offers an opportunity to explore villages, climb small peaks and visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. According to legend a lama following a runaway yak discovered the valley. Hence the name- lang is Tibetan for ‘yak’ and teng (more correctly dhang) means ‘to follow’.

Memorable experience at Langtang with Basecamp - We are on our way home after a wonderful trek at Langtang, thanks to Base camp Adventures. Langtang is a very good first trek that takes you deep into himalayas in just a few days. You experience green forests along the way. The destination Kyanjin Gumpa is surrounded by tall snow covered mountains, including Langtang Lirung a 7000er. You can climb up to two view points that take you to 4950m. Our guide Shiva was friendly, and knowledgeable. We chatted about his past treks, nepali culture, geography, society and even politics. I learned a lot. Our porterMitra was great too. We could tackle the challenge of getting to Tserko Ri only because of constant encouragement and support by Shiva and Mitra. Many thanks to those two. It was easy to work with Shree during booking. Hotels chosen, at Kathmandu and along the trek were nice. Airport pick up orompt. One the whole great experience for our first outing into Nepal. Wholeheartedly recommend Base camp Adventures.

Our 4th wonderful experience with shree at Base Camp Adventures - On our 4th visit to Nepal with Base camp adventures, Shree organised our new package starting with a 12 day Langtang Gosainkunda Lake trek. Beginning with an exiting jeep ride to Syaprubesi and ending in Nagarcot. As always a faultless experience from start to finish. With spectacular views of the Langtang valley and the peaceful surroundings of the lakes its a must do trek. Our guide Shiva was fantastic with excellent English and a wide knowledge of our surroundings . So impressed we booked another trek with Shree and asked for Shiva again on the Mardi Himal a 5 day trek in the Annapurna region. Another must fo if time is against you, great views and changeable landscapes. We finished our package off in Bardyia national park, 3 days safari, first day jeep ride we found a Bengal Tiger, close up! Followed by wild Elephants and Rhinos. For Birders like us this is paradise. Thank you Shree again! and our guide Shiva for another wonderful experience see you next year.

Nothing but recommendable - I just came back from this amazing trek! I can say, it's totally and absolutely worth doing! My guide Prakash was just the kind of trekking partner I needed. Fun, and knowledgeable and friendly. I really can't fault Base Camp at all. Granted, some of the tea houses are very basic, but that's obviously not under their control. So I can only recommend these guys. They won't disappoint.

Exceeded all expectations - Just a great experience from the first moment we contacted Shree from Base Camp Adventure until long after we finished the trek. He was very prompt and concise in responding before we went to Nepal, and when we arrived in his office in Thamel to talk about the trek, he immediately introduced us to the guide (Jwala, best guide we've ever had). Shree asked a lot of questions about us to to make sure he could compose the perfect trek for us. There was a lot of flexibility, and we decided to add a trek to the holy Gosaikunda lakes while already on the Langtang trek. Everything was taken care for perfectly. Jwala had our safety and experience in mind first, and had great advice and ensured we had no problems with altitude. He is very experienced - ask him about all his adventures in the Himalayas! During the trek, he taught us a lot about Nepal, the Tamang culture, and all other things we as Western visitors were curious about. We felt safe, unpressured, free and comfortable at all times. Shree and Jwala have become good friends and we would recommend travelling with them to everyone. Thanks for everything Shree and Jwala!
