Auschwitz, set up in 1940, was the largest Nazi concentration camp for Polish and foreign detainees. Dominated by Hitler’s fascism, the inmates were subjected to seclusion and gradual extermination through starvation, severe labor, cruel experiments, or instant death via individual, and mass shootings. Undoubtedly, it is a place of significant historical importance.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is a valuable global cultural monument, and is the only mining operation in the world that has been in continuous operation since medieval times.
