Experience the charm of south and east Kyoto through an early-morning guided tour on our brand-new e-bikes. We’ll rendezvous for a swift briefing and then set off towards the grand Fushimi Inari Shrine, where we aim to beat the typical tourist crowd. Our next stop is the impressive Tofukuji Temple after which we’ll take a coffee break at a cherished local cafe. As our journey continues, we’ll make our way along the Kamo River and head towards the UNESCO-designated Ginkakuji Temple. Post-Ginkakuji, we’ll leisurely navigate down the well-known Path of Philosophy which leads to the Nanzenji Temple’s spectacular gardens, ornate religious buildings, and a fascinating red brick aqueduct. Following a sit-down lunch (included), the last section of our tour will lead us along the Shirakawa Canal, weaving through the streets of Gion district, until we reach Higashi Honganji Temple’s gates and eventually circle back to our starting point.

Unforgettable Experience!! Must try - This was a really nice experience! Our guide Maiko ( I hope I spelled her name right) was very knowledgeable about the city and its culture/ structures. She was very friendly throughout and allowed us quite a bit of freedom on the bikes. She also picked routes that allow you to go fast at times on your bike if you want to. I booked this tour with family and we ended up making friends with the others in the group. You’ll be spending most of the day together so it’s quite nice meeting others as a bonus. Definitely recommend this tour!

Perfect Day in Kyoto - We loved our private tour with Cycle Kyoto! We had a great day cycling around to see some of the incredible shrines and temples of Kyoto. Our group of 5 had a blast and felt the tour was well paced, very informative and fun! Juan was very knowledgeable about the history and cultural significance of the places we visited, and Akira, an Osaka local, shared a ton of interesting information with us about Osaka and Kyoto (and took some fantastic pics for us! Thank you!). This was definitely the perfect way to see part of Kyoto and we will book another tour when we are back!

Amazing family cycle tour - Our family (children ages 11 & 13) had an amazing day cycling around Kyoto with our wonderful guide Julian. We stopped at multiple sights, had a relaxing coffee break & a delicious lunch in Gion. Julian was able to give us an understanding of Japanese culture & life- a huge thank you Cycle Kyoto!! Would book another tour without hesitation

E-bike fun - We really enjoyed our e-bike tour with Quin. His knowledge and enthusiasm for Kyoto is infectious and really made our tour. The e-bikes are so easy to ride and pretty much anyone could ride them with only minimal levels of fitness. Professional and well established business offering a great product.

Great well-paced tour of eastern Kyoto - Had a great trip with Quinn; he's a great guide and full of information about the area and the places we stopped. Beautiful locations to visit and a great introduction to the east side of Kyoto (Kyoto University, Philosopher's Walk, river view rides, Gion). Highly recommend. They were very helpful in getting me a larger bike so as to have a good experience. They also somehow arranged for the first full day of sunshine in the several days I was in Japan.

A ‘must do’ activity to add to your itinerary - We had a fantastic day riding through the back streets of Kyoto. The ride was well organised with plenty of time at the temples and attractions visited. Kevin was an excellent guide answering all our questions and departing his wealth of cultural knowledge. A highlight of our visit to Japan and a must if you are planning to visit Kyoto. Very safe and an easy doable pace.
