- Atlas Mountain Trekking - A series of villages around the Moulay Brahim valley are set along a winding road in the High Atlas Mountains, offering stunning views of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in Morocco and North Africa. During the drive, we’ll pass numerous Berber villages nestled on hillsides, with waterfalls and lush green gardens. We’ll stop to experience the Berber lifestyle by visiting a local family who will greet us with a glass of mint tea. Then, we’ll continue through the Imlil Valley. In this valley, we’ll visit a women’s cooperative before reaching the last village. There, we’ll meet our local guide who will lead us on a walking tour to hike the Atlas Mountains and explore the villages. Lunch will be at a Berber family house. After that, we’ll return to Marrakech around 5pm.

Awesome private trek! - The whole trip was amazing! Yusef, our lovely driver arrived bang on time to collect us from our hotel and we set off out of Marrakech. We had a photo stop en route with gorgeous views of the mountains and a very short stop to see ladies making Argan oil with no pressure to purchase anything. Not long after we had a tea stop and met up with our guide, Rashid. We then set off on an awesome hike through Berber settlements with fabulous views and Rashid was friendly, informative and fun. We had lunch at a Berber house and it was the tastiest tagine we had all week! We can highly recommend this trip in every way and can't wait to return one day for a longer trek!

Excellent hike from Imlil - Jamal was responsive and helpful over email before we booked the trip and helped with all queries we had. During the trip he was brilliant, knowledgable, patient with teenagers and the actual trek was fantastic. The mountains are stunning, it was a real highlight of our trip to Morocco.
The lunch was delicious too and his whole family were lovely. We finished with a camel ride which everyone loved :) Highly recommend.

Amazing Day Trip - Amazing trip. Organised by Jamal, communication was quick and easy from booking to getting collected right outside our accommodation. We were driven to Imlil by Yousef where we met Jamal and Mohammed who then took us on the hike. Mohammed was friendly and professional, making sure we were happy at all times. Couldn’t recommend more!

The perfect active and nature filled day trip from Marrakesh! - This review is for a day trip and hike in the Atlas mountains. We are leisurely hikers that typically do easy-moderate hikes in LA. If you are looking for some nature and a way to be a little more active on your visit in Marrakesh, I highly recommend this awesome experience. Our trek guide, Hassan, was very experienced and was very kind and helpful to help us manage our energy ( lots of water breaks!)
Our day included:
- Pick up from our riad in Marrakesh
- Private comfortable and clean van with AC and great driver
- On the drive, we stopped at a couple scenic view points on the way to imlil valley (1st berber village, 2nd women owned co-op for argan oil products, Kasbah Tamadot stop, river/mountain views). Didn't spend more than 5-10minutes at each stop. The drive was delightful and gorgeous. It made us more more excited for what is to come.
- When we arrived to the village, the Atlas Trekking company owner greeted us and explained our hike options (1, 2, 3 or 4 hours). He explained the level of difficulty for each, what you'll see and the terrain for each option
- We felt adventurous and chose the 3 hour hike. This included a stop at the waterfalls, lots of uphill. Then lots of downhill of course. The mountain views are amazing!!
- The end of hike included a home cooked meal that was so delicious. We were obsessed with the vegetables
- Lastly, drop off at our hotel
Tips:
- Bring proper trekking shoes, hat, water bottle, sunscreen.
- stretch beforehand
- bring cash for buying a snack and tips (hiking guide, the cook, driver)

Amazing day out into the Atlas Mountains - Such an amazing day! Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a day trip and something different from the hustle & bustle of Marrakesh
There was excellent communication from Jamal before the tour started answering all questions promptly over email
The tour started with me & my wife being picked up in the main square and it was a 1.5 hour scenic drive to the mountains
When we got to the town next to the mountains, we were picked up by our guide Ahmed Zin who was a great guide. He took us around the town and into the maintains. He explained the history of the town and answered all of our questions in depth. Ahmed told us some very interesting stories and asked us how long we would like to trek for and if we’d like to see anything in particular.
We were greeted by so many friendly locals during the walk
The hike ended with a delicious lunch

Excellent tour - Such a great experience, excellent value and kind guides! We traveled as three American women with almost no knowledge and learned so much. Our guide, Ahmed (spelling may be wrong, sorry) was so excited and friendly to show us his culture. Highly recommend! They even gave us jackets for free to borrow because we weren’t ready for the cold!

A great walk in the serene Atlas mountains - Just a perfect day! We were picked up right on time and safely taken up to the mountains and stopped off to take a look in an Argan oil cooperative. Once we reached Imlil we met our walking guide Mohammed and traveled to a waterfall and then up through the valleys and villages. Mohammed was happy to take our questions and explained points of interest. He was also perfectly happy to just let us walk and appreciate the quiet - which was welcome after a couple of days in the chaotic souks of Marrakech!
We also stopped for lunch at a Berber house for salad, bread, chicken tajine and fruit.
We then walked back to Imlil, said our goodbyes and we're ferried back to our riad pleasantly exhausted from the four or so hours of mountain walking.
If we're ever back in Morocco we will definitely book another trip with High Atlas Trekking - probably an overnight or three day trek!
