Highlights
- Sólheimajökull glacier parking lot - You will meet your glacier guide in our Sólheimajökull Base Camp. After being fitted with a climbing harness, crampons and equipped with an ice ax, we will head up to the Sólheimajökull outlet glacier. The glacier walk starts with an introduction on how to walk and travel on glaciers and how to use the equipment you have been provided with. When everyone is ready and comfortable, the guide will lead you through the frozen wonderland if blue ice, glacial fomrations and deep crevasses.

Additional Information
- Please bring good, hiking shoes (high on the ankle), warm and waterproof clothing, hat and gloves.
- A small amount of walking is involved (about an hour on the glacier itself, with multiple stops)
- Children must be accompanied by an adult

Meet us at our base at Sólheimajökull Parking Lot. Driving time from Reykjavík is 2.5 hours. Drive along Road 1 on the South Coast, then take a left turn on Road 221. After ca. 5 minute drive, you will reach the starting point.

Tour - We had a very fun time on the glacier with our guide Kari Timsson. We learned a lot and it was very beautiful on the glacier. We enjoyed ourselves.

Fabulous hike! - My friends and I highly recommand Icelandic Moutain Guides, especially Thomas. It was the first glacier hike for most of us. And our guide Thomas made this experience easy, amazing and totaly safe. We enjoyed this enthousiastic adventure and had the opportunity to learn a lot of things about glaciers thanks to our guide. Amazing adventure - My friends and I had an absolutely incredible experience on the Glacier tour today and our tour guide Thomas made it easy and unforgettable for us. His in-depth knowledge of the glacier was amazing. We took many beautiful pictures. This tour was one of the perfect ones of my travels in Iceland.It was a really fun and amazing day.

Having the best time - Thomas was such a good guide!! We had the best time with him. He guided us safely through the glacier and gave interesting information. The views were amazing. Definitely would recommend doing this experience. ☺️

Perfect walk around the glacier - The tour was nice and easy even for the older people of our group. Our tour guide Andrea was keeping everything under control and shared valuable information regarding the glacier and the story around everything there

Lost on the ice, and loved it ! - We went on a SUPA HIKE thanks to Thomas who took a small and different path from all the other groups.
We felt like we were alone on the ice, lost among the black and white decor.
And the thing is, unit was not only walking. He stopped various times to explain everything we should know about the ice experience. Loved it. And remember it for ever.

Walking on Sólheimajökulsvegur (Glacier hike) - Excellent guide (Thomas). The tour was good, especially going down into the crevice. It was an appropriate length of time but didn’t cover much distance.
