The trip is suitable for anyone who is physically active. There is around 15 minutes of flat water at about the mid point on the trip allowing time to relax, enjoy the scenery, chat with your guide and fellow rafters and even have a swim if you wish.
You will spend around 1hr 45 minutes on the water, all up you need to allow 3 1/ 2 to 4 hours or around 5 1/2 - 6 hours including Rotorua Transfers.

Great day rafting the Rangitaiki River. - Right from the safety brief, through the rapids and back for the lunch, the team made it a great day. We can now say “we have rafted the Rangitaiki River…oh yeah”. Thanks for the experience.

Memories on the Rangitaki with River Rats - My partner and I enjoyed our experience with River Rats very much. Our guides Nev and Cam made us feel welcome, safe and we engaging the entire time. The rafting was exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. The mix bag of weather we experienced only made the experience more memorable.

Highly recommend this - Such an amazing trip! Our guide Zac skillfully led us on a white water adventure that exceeded all our expectations. Our two hour ride was split between traversing rapids and floating serenely along calm stretches. Really lovely. We would happily do it again.

Super Fun for 1st Timers! - We had a great time with River Rats on the Rangitaiki rafting excursion! All 4 of our party are retired, 3 taking our 1st rafting experience and loved it! Beautiful forest and river views throughout and plenty of whitewater fun ably guided by Zak. Would go again without hesitation, such fun.

One of our best white water experiences anywhere! - Exhilarating! We had an absolute blast! Our guide, Zach, did a great job - highly recommend! Appreciated the wet suit when we jumped in the river at a calm spot: cold but definitely part of the fun. Will do again next time!

Amazing experience! - Amazing trip down the Rangitaiki River with guides Zach and Justin. They were the only company on this river the day we went so we had the entire journey to ourselves. They were super informative about the area and the history as well as extremely attentive to safety on the river. I felt very safe through the entire journey and we had so much fun! Can’t say enough good things about our guides—they taught us well and kept us all in our rafts through the class 3 & 4 rapids. I would highly recommend this company and would love to raft with them again!!!

Excellent and thrilling experience! - So worth it! Initially we were a bit apprehensive since we are a family of inexperienced swimmers and I don't swim at all. We were on the boat by ourselves with 2 guys from RR. The experience started off with a short ride in the bus to the river bank, soon followed up by a quick lesson on the terminology and intended rowing actions. Our instructor Zack then got us on the boat and got us going! Adrenaline charged from the get go, it was quite an unforgettable experience. We had only done WWR without ever having to row ourselves, but that's not the case here. My goal was simple - stay on the boat! So we hung on to every word and did exactly as told by Zack, while he deftly guided us through the rough waters! 1.5 hours went by so quick! it was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend!

A great trip - A great fun morning. This was my first time on any kind of white water rafting trip. Cam (the guide) was good fun and engaging as he mixed important safety info with humour. An opportunity to practice the various commands and we were off down the Grade 4 descent. Really enjoyable.

Rangitalki with Rick 2024 - The kayak director was fabulous and knowledgeable about more than just kayaking. He had history and information about the plants and animals living on the banks of the river. The water was low, though our guide made the experience very exciting. When the water was calm our guide invited us to swim which I did and found very refreshing. The obstacles along the way with the guide expertise made the journey fun and exciting.
