Dine like a local! - Absolutely loved the authentic Egyptian food on our dinner tour, which can be tailored to fit your needs/appetite ... the camel delicacy, and watching how it is cooked, is also a must to experience!

A very interesting tour. there are 2... -
A very interesting tour. there are 2 parts to this tour. one is the Food. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed one meal. A second Meal full of meat frankly became too much and the desert and coffee was delicious. however the most fascinating part of the tour was where it was. you get to experience the FULL FLAVOUR of the locals in their streets. you see their lifestyle on show. nothing hidden. cars honking, carts pulled by donkeys, all these cafe shops including oldies playing backgammon and Shiskas, fruit stalls, small restaurants, flea bargain shops......just sensational and all condensed into a relative small area by car. felt 1000 safe and honestly all the locals were so friendly especially if you smiled at them. if you want to experience culture and understand a little more about the Egyptians I highly suggest this tour. lastly the tour guide was a fantastic man and he customised the tour however we wanted it as well.

Not really a food tour, definitely longer than 3 hours - Our tour guide was very nice, but this really isn't a food tour, but more of a "let me bring you to all my friend's stores" tour. First of all, if you're staying in Giza, this is probably better, but we were in Downtown Cairo, which meant an hour in traffic to get to Giza, to stop at a local fast food joint (FelFella, there was one right near our hotel) for falafel. Ok, we were hungry by then. But then to "rest" in between stops, we went to three different shops (papyrus, perfumery and cotton shop), all of which had stayed open late waiting for us, had a 10-20 minute presentation for us and then expected us to buy things. So now it is 3 hours from our pick up time, we are an hour from our hotel and are getting hungry and tired. We drive another hour back into Downtown Cairo to go to the second local restaurant stop. It is in Old Cairo, basically just a storefront for the next dish. By now, we are so tired, we asked our guide to just bring us back to the hotel, he wanted us to keep going and get coffee, but we were way past that. We are now at 5 hours from our pick up time. We went back finally, but it was an effort. My friend got food poisoning from the last stop (we had slightly different toppings on our dishes) and the rest of our trip was touch and go. Basically, if you're a foodie, this isn't giving you anything you cannot find on your own. If you want to just go shopping, not a bad trip, but the pressure to buy things was high and the Khan el Khalili market was way better. I wouldn't recommend this tour.
