Additional Information

We’re natives of Porto, intimately familiar with its nuances, and we’ll tailor this private tour to suit your preferences.

This private gastronomic tour is centered on Portuguese cuisine, but also intertwines elements of our culture, history, and unique traditions.

Our journey takes us to the temporary Bolhão market and numerous food spots and traditional tascas, where you’ll mingle with residents. Along the way, we’ll unveil the narratives that shape our signature dishes: the folklore surrounding the ‘tripeiros’, a moniker for Porto’s locals; the creation process of the ‘francesinha’, a calorie-laden delight not to miss, and the flavorful codfish recipes, deeply ingrained in our culture.

To complement your culinary adventure, we’ll introduce you to our Portuguese wines and outline the variety of grapes and wine-producing regions. And what about our pastries, like pastel de nata or jesuíta…?

Porto Grazing - Our guide, Sara, was delightful...taking us to a variety of places/venues to sample the flavors of Porto. Her knowledge of the local culture and customs made our visit even more enjoyable. We have taken food tours in many European cities, and this was among the best!

Wonderful Food Tour of Porto - We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour in Porto with João. He provided insight into the culture and development of the area, along with a wonderful sampling of a variety of food and drinks. He was friendly and knowledgable, and accommodated us with several stops along the tour for us to explore shops and sights we were interested in. I highly recommend Oporto & Douro Moments.

Book this tour! - We had the greatest time touring with Oporto & Douro Moments! My husband and I had traveled to Porto once before but wanted to try something different this time. We booked a walking food and wine tour on a Sunday morning and it was the perfect way to see the city (definitely wear comfy shoes!) and get to learn a little more about the history and the special dishes of Porto! Highly recommend!

Great way to see porto - My wife and I did the food tour with Sara. She was excellent. Life long resident of the area who was able to provide great perspective on the food, culture and ongoing development of the city. As we had not had a chance yet to explore the city, Sara adapted the tour on the fly to show us some of the historical sites and make recommendations on what to come back to see. Bring your walking shoes.

Great day touring the Douro! - My husband and I booked a wine tour with Rui during our stay in Douro. We were staying outside of the two main towns, so we had to book a private tour. We visited two wineries, had lunch and visited the town of Pinhao. Rui was such a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist! We thoroughly enjoyed our day. I would recommend if you do not have a car and you want to explore the area and taste some wine!

Great Experience - Sara customized our tour to allow for half walking and half driving. It has not rained much in Porto but we happened to hit it on a day it did not stop drizzling. Nevertheless, Sara took us through the streets of Porto regaling us with stories and history. Everywhere we stopped we were greeted with a smile and something to eat and drink. From the market and green wine with sardines (canned this time of year), to the francesinha (little french woman) we covered the highlights of the city. Sara keeps everything light and entertaining. The time passed all too quickly but it was delightful.
