A great way to see a part of historical Cairo - We enjoyed this tour so much. Our tour guide, Jessie, was very friendly. She took us to some cool hidden places that we wouldn’t have found as tourists. Worth for adding to you travel list.

Half Day Tour: El Moez Street, Old Mosques Al Azhar Park and Khan El Khalili Bazaar - I recently took this wonderful trip and cannot day enough about how much I enjoyed the experience. My guide, Ali Nagoya, was absolutely fantastic. From the minute I was picked up from my hotel he provided me with great information and he made sure that I got to see everything I wanted to and more. This was a perfect trip for me as I am a photographer and I was able to get the best photos. Also Ali was completely flexible and we were able to see things that I had not expected to on this tour. If you want a great, personalized, informative and enjoyable tour this is definitely a perfect option.

Awesome guide by OLA and driver Syed! - We had the most amazing time with our tour guide Ola. She gave us in depth information about the history of Egypt. She also brought us to Khan El Khalili bazaar and brought us to the cheapest store you can find there. Had our lunch at one of the local shawarma shop. Simply delicious! Highly recommended to book from Emotours and remember to ask for Ola! Not forgetting the driver Syed for ensuring our safety and smooth drive to and fro location!

Best trip with Ola & Syed - We had the best time walking at the streets and to the mosques. Khan el-Khalili market and Al Azhar mosque were the highlight of the trip. Ola bought us to the best & cheapest place to buy souvenir, so remember to bring enough cash. Ola is well informative too, Highly recommended 👍👍

Informative and well taken care of - Mesho was a great guide and helped us really understand the history and significance of each place. Definitely worth the time and cost to take us to the highlights and the transportation quickly. Otherwise I’m sure we would have been totally lost!!

Great tour to beautiful El Moez Street - El Moez is a beautiful area, and we booked this tour because hardly any other tpur operator offered this place and also Al Azhar Park, which offers great views over Cairo. El Moez is a great experience, and our tour guide Jessi made it smart and with happiness. You can‘t leave Cairo without seeing El Moez, especially at night.

A day with Amhed Tonsi @ a Tour of EL Moez Street, Mosques, Bazaar, Al Azhar Park - Please note: Before leaving for Egypt, I booked all my tours in Canada via VIATOR app. Viator, in alliance with EMO Egypt Tours, pre-arranged my tours while in Egypt. Usually, tours I book are in small to large groups. However, I was very surprised that the tour was actually private with a private driver/tour guide. My first tour with Tonsi was for the Full day at Giza, Saqqar, Dashur, and Memphis City. At first, I was reluctant to enter a vehicle with two men as a solo female traveler. However, Ahmed the driver and Ahmed Tonsi the tour guide were pleasant. As such, upon discovering that I booked other tours via Viator; Tonsi arranged it so I got both of them for all my tours. I found this to be comorting as a female solo traveler, as it allowed me to have a familiar face to rely on during my stay at Egypt. Thank you Tonsi and Ahmed! EL MOEZ STREET: This is said to be the oldest streets in Cairo. "Old Cairo", in my research was founded in 969 AD, by the Fatimid Dynasty, and has a thousand years of rich history; gallivanting around the alleyways and essentially empty streets to discover magnificent mosques, historic homes, and random architectural structures was a great opportunity to absorb Cairo's heritage. It was a perfect scenic setting for memorable photography. TIP: Be sure to have your batteries charged to ensure you capture all the sites of this tour. Before leaving Canada I bought a back up portable charger at 5000 mAh, which has 5 x more power than the average charger. I like to take pics with my phone so I can upload easily to all of my social media sites when I get wifi at the hotel. I did have an actual camera, as back up, just in case I ran out of storage space or battery on my phone to ensure I did not miss any photo opportunities. I found the portable charger I bought was perfect for the trip, as nothing frustrates me more than seeing 'battery low' on my phone screen mid way on an adventure tour. It turned out to be a great investment as I found it handy throughout my trip. AL AZHAR MOSQUE: Tonsi took me to see this structure; however, due to Ramadan, it was not available for entry? I did manage to take shots from the outside but had wanted to go in for interior views. Tonsi took me to an underground tunnel, where you can travel to other side of the street. It is similar to our subway tunnels here in Toronto. AL HUSEEN MOSQUE: There is a separate entrance for ladies; and I believe this is the mosque I entered. Although, it is not the same interior views as the men would see, as it is in their culture that men pray at mosques, where women are encouraged to pray at home; hence, why there is a greater space dedicated for men than women. EL AQMAR MOSQUE: In this one mosque, I was able to enter from the front. I removed my sandals and placed it inside where open cubes were design to house them while inside. Locals removed their footwear and left it at the footsteps of the entrance; I guess the man monitoring the entrance found it safer to place shoes of tourists inside instead of outside? There Tonsi explained that even though men and women can walk inside the same entrance; technically, the women are segregated behind the robed room, where they pray separately from the men. Because I was obviously a tourist, I was allowed to sit at the back bench while I sat with my tour guide, as he explained the normally procedure. I did get a lot of stares from the men inside the mosque. We did not stay too long. TIP: Don't forget to dress conservatively for this tour. I did dress appropriately wearing a long light pants, 3/4 sleeve denim blouse, and a scarf that covered my head. After visiting the mosques, I was able to remove my scarf for the remainder of the tour. KHAN AL KHALILI BAZAAR: There were shops that were open but for the most part there were also lots that were closed. This tour was on a Sunday; and Tonsi explained that although 80% of Egypt was Muslim, there were also Christians amongst their culture. As such, most of the shop owners who are Christians, remained closed on Sundays. Tonsi explained that if you are to buy anything from the shops that were open, that haggling is required before the final purchase. However, Tonsi took me to a shop called JORDI; it is out of the way, on a second floor, that only a guide would ever be able to locate. I only knew of the name of the store because the plastic bag I was given with my purchase had the name of the shop. And going through my photos I did see a random shot of a sign "Jordi" in orange outline. Anyway, Tonsi advises that all the prices in this shop is 'as is' and requires no bargaining as it is the lowest priced items in the Bazaar. Tonsi advises that even other shop owners were not a fan of this store as it took away from their business. I could imagine why. I did stop at the other shops to see how much they were selling their items but I could tell you that compared to the prices of items at my hotel; the Jordi prices were definitely amazing in comparison. Just to give you samples: a Wine Bottle opener, designed with great and tasteful Egyptian decor, was priced at 90 LE (Egyptian pounds) vs at the hotel, exactly the same item, selling at 325 LE!! That's quite the bargain. I spent about 1150 LE worth of souvenirs, which translates to about $88 CDN. But to be honest, I should have created a list of people I wanted to buy souvenirs for and taken my time to buy more. I ended up having to buy souvenirs on my last day at the hotel because of convenience but at a higher price point. And knowing how much it was selling for at Jordi, it hurt just a little bit to fork up the money to an overpriced hotel boutique shop. Tonsi was patient enough to allow me the free time and to take my time while I decided what to get at Jordi. For further examples: I got fashion jewellery (hand of Fatima, eternal key symbol, etc) @ 10 LE. It's not silver or gold but for fun souvenirs, I say that is a bargain. I got a little mummy tomb that opens in silver metal, again with tasteful Egyptian decor with blue stones for 75 LE; 4x6 frame for 90 LE vs 275 LE at the hotel; silver vase (don't think any of these are real sliver but for silver plated they still look fancy enough for the price) at 125 LE, 2 small jewellery boxes with ornate decorations with blue stones, of two different queens, at 90 LE each, a medium size jewellery box at 175 LE, bracelet cuff at 50 LE, etc) TIP: Definitely create a list and buy accordingly; and buy it all at once at Jordi if you are able to find what you are looking for. Also, it would help if you saved this tour towards your last day in Egypt so that you can do your entire souvenir shopping with confidence, knowing you have seen it all and that this is your last stop. AL AZHAR PARK IN CAIRO: Known for its scenic panoramic views, I wanted to visit this site. My expectations were probably higher than the actual experience. The park was quiet and was essentially empty; it was peaceful, with no other tourists in sight. The views were nice but nothing epic as I imagined. It is still worth going to see for taking a couple of panoramic shots of Cairo's city view. But it is not spectacular. Set your expectations accordingly and you will be less disappointed. TIP: I was a solo traveler so I did get a lot of free time and manage to get a few selfies. But to get the best panoramic shots, I think you need someone to take the photo of you or have a camera stand with auto timing, if doing it solo. Tonsi was nice enough to take photos of me at a wider angle to see the background. LUNCH: Lunch was included but not the drinks. Snacks were included and were placed in the car for you; it included a bottle of water and juice or pop. So, just keep this with you and that should be fine when you have your lunch. I went during the month of Ramadan (was there for May 24-29) and as such, most restaurants were closed and did not have anything to serve. The locals prepare for Ramadan between 3pm-7pm; and everything re-opens again after 7 pm until late at night apparently, 2 am-4 am. I normally have breakfast before my tour starts and because of that I don't get hungry until late afternoon. So, I wasn't starving. Tonsi was able to find me a place where we can take lunch to go; however, if I am going to be honest, I would have loved to have sat down at an actual restaurant and experience a local dish in an authentic Egyptian setting. Anyway, I had it to go and ate it poolside at the hotel. I guess it was ok as it gave me time to relax and absorb some sunlight before my night tour of a dinner cruise on the Nile River that same day.

Didn't visit sites mention in description, have a guide or included lunch paid for. - Super disappointing experience. The person we were greeted by immediately let us know that he's a company representative and NOT a guide, despite the tour saying it included a professional guide. He then asked if we wanted to lunch first, to which we said no. Then he asked if we wanted to lunch at the park instead, to which we said yes.  We started walking El Moez street after a hectic ride there as it seemed the driver wasnt sure what was the best route. The walk was nice, however nothing was explained, we just strolled for 2-5 minutes and then went back to wait for the car. We then headed to the Bazaar, again another difficult trip as the driver didn't seem sure how to get there. While there, we waited roughly 20 minutes for a "special" gift shop to open which was annoying as most of the shops have the same small trinket gifts. We were offered tea and water while we waited which was nice. Got in and was able to buy a few things. Then we walked the bazaar for a whole and asked if we wanted Ice cream, that it was included, to which we declined, we weren't really in the mood for the snack. After a few minutes waiting fir the car again, we left and headed to the park. The representative purchased our tickets and sent us in. We were surprised that we had to pay for our lunch at the park. Nonetheless, the park was beautiful and the view was amazing. After the park, we were taken back to our hotel. We didn't visit the Al Azhar Mosque, Al Husseen Mosque, El Aqmar Mosque, no professional tour guide with explinations of anything, and didn't receive our included lunch. We paid $17 and got 2 salads, 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Do yourself a favor and don't pay for the lunch, go to the Citadel Restaurant at the Park and just order what you want. It will be cheaper. Or pick a cheaper bazaar tour and take an UBER to the park as the entrance fee is only $2. All together, it was only 4 hrs, 1 hour being the commute from and to our hotel in Giza, not 5 to 6. It was nice to have someone driving us from place to place abd the representative was kind but without a guide or the mentioned inclusions, we could have just ordered an UBER and paid a lot less. Didn't get what we paid for.
