Being a previously prosperous and cultivated Roman city, Pompeii was engulfed by meters of ash and pumice after the disastrous eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Continuous excavations make the site ever-changing, providing fresh explorations annually. Having an expert private guide is strongly recommended to thoroughly and comfortably visit the site’s key structures. Requesting a guide will also assist in bypassing long queues at the ticket counter, however, this is not included in the tour price. A 2-hour halt is planned. Depending on the traffic and the final destination, the transfer to Naples concluding the excavations visit may vary between 30 to 40 minutes. Departure from Rome to Naples is also an option.
