Once you have greeted your guide he or she will run through how the day will go and what to expect from the tour. Silfra is known for it’s visibility exceeding 100 metres. The reason for this is because 50km away there is a glacier that melts at different times of the year and this melt water makes a journey underground until it reaches a big ‘crack’ in the ground. This meltwater fills this ‘crack’ or ‘canyon’ meaning we can go snorkeling there to experience it. After spending 30-40 minutes in the water you’ll finish the tour by warming up with a well earned hot chocolate.
Your guide will take photos of you throughout and does not charge extra commission. Normally included are 40-100 photos, this varies on group size and the comfort level of the group. They are downloadable after a few days.
With the wetsuit option all you need to wear your bathing suit underneath. Our guides highly recommended that you bring thick socks as this will help to keep your feet warm while snorkeling!

Donning a wetsuit and snorkeling in Iceland might seem ludicrous, but it can be one of the most fulfilling experiences ever. The knowledge imparted by our guides and the feedback we get from our satisfied customers is why we provide the wetsuit option.
We stand out as the sole company offering both a wetsuit and a drysuit. Such an arrangement allows various members of your group to opt for what suits them best, thus customizing your experience.
Most individuals who opt for the wetsuit do it because it allows them to dive deeper. This makes the wetsuit highly favored among scuba divers without the needed certification for drysuit scuba diving.
Underwater, there is a tranquil silence that engulfs you, an experience that can only be had when submerged in water in a wetsuit. This potentially makes it the premier way of viewing the waters of Silfra, with an enduring visibility over 100 meters.
If you’re not too sure about your swimming ability, then the drysuit snorkel would be a more hassle-free option for you.
