Your chances of spotting a Sri Lankan leopard are excellent, as are your odds of observing elephants. Our visit happened during a slight dry spell in Yala national park. As a result, the elephants were located deeper in the park near the perennial lakes, away from the main roads. Despite this, we were able to spot a solitary male feeding amidst the trees. If your visit coincides with a time without any dry spells, you’re guaranteed to witness groups of elephants roaming freely throughout the park, visible to all.
