The Independence Palace - This palace is like a time capsule from 1975. You can see two original tanks used in the palace’s capture parked on the grounds. Independence Palace was the residence and workplace of the French Governor of Cochin-China. It features lush gardens, secret rooms, antique furniture, and a command bunker. The palace is still used for important events in Ho Chi Minh City, including APEC summits.
-
Emperor Jade Pagoda - Located in District 1, this is one of the oldest pagodas in Saigon, about a ten-minute drive from the city center.
-
Ben Thanh Market - Situated in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Thanh Market is an excellent place to purchase local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art, and other souvenirs. Inside the market, you’ll find food stalls offering hawker-style Vietnamese cuisine and cold drinks to help you cool off when bargaining becomes overwhelming. The market is large and can be challenging to navigate, especially during the hottest part of the day, but it’s definitely worth a visit.
-
People’s Committee Building - A must-see in Saigon: Originally built as a hotel in 1898 by French architect Gardes, it now serves as a city hall and is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
