Highlights
  • Quang Phu Cau - Immerse yourself in Vietnam’s most vibrant artisan village while enhancing your photography skills under the guidance of an expert photographer. In addition to capturing the classic scenes of artisans amidst the crimson incense, we’ll unveil the lesser-known yet equally picturesque spots within this enchanting enclave.

We arrange for your hotel pickup and depart from Hanoi by vehicle, reaching Quang Phu Cau around 10am. By then, the locals have laid out their incense to dry, presenting a perfect opportunity to photograph them amidst the scarlet arrays. We’ll have ample time to snap a range of dynamic photos of the artisans at work, including aerial perspectives.

Our journey continues deeper into the village’s workshops, where we’ll document the incense crafting process, from slicing bamboo to immersing the sticks in colorant, and forming the incense paste. We’ll capture additional shots of the congenial villagers who have been crafting incense for generations, weaving a pictorial narrative of this distinctive locale. The experience concludes with a professional critique and selection of photos as we travel back to your hotel in Hanoi.

Lovely personalized experience with a very knowledgeable local. Walking historian with a great disposition and character - I went on this tour with a friend to get a more personalized tour of the incense village and Tung made sure we got exactly that! We got to explore an area off the beaten path and ask questions to the workers. We great tips on good shots and pointers to get a good story on camera.

Amazing photography tour for both real life and instagrammable. - The tour was amazing. Tung our photographer/guide was professional, polite, very helpful and spoke exceptionally good English. He took us the real side of the incense village life and the instagrammable part. A real hidden gem. We both had a great time in fact it was the highlight of our trip to Hanoi.

A unique and truly memorable experience - It was truly an amazing experience having being able to see the workshops and workers who create the incense sticks and their processes. Tung guided us through our photography journey on the day and we were able to produce some truly beautiful shots. He also took us to a lovely lunch spot to try the speciality cha ca dish of Hanoi which added to the uniqueness of our day with him. I can not recommend this tour any more as it was an intimate experience with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. I would recommend you book this tour with a couple days left in your Hanoi trip in case the weather is not perfect and are able to reschedule it but it was still an experience regardless of what the weather was. A favourite experience of mine during my first visit to Vietnam.

Photo tour of Quang Phu Cau incense village - The thing i really like about the tour was the good relationship between the tour organiser and the owner of the incense factory we visited. We were treated to a delicious lunch, and allowed to go around and see all the different steps in the making of the incense, which was fascinating. If i had just turned up, or been with a larger group, i am sure this would not have been possible. The photographer guide was great too and suggested some photographic shots i would not have thought of, he also took a photo of me with the incense, which is probably my favourite photo of the whole of my six week trip in Vietnam

Good place for photos - Great tour of the facility and the entire process. Brian showed me the various stages of the incense making process and also guided me about using my camera in various settings. The lunch afterwards was delicious too!

A well organized photo trip with a wonderful mentor - First things first. The communication by Vietnam in Focus is on point, right till the end of the trip. They are very organized. They really put an effort to know the kind of photographer you are (by means of a questionnaire they will send you before any trip). I found that to be really insightful. Coming back to the trip itself, the incense village is no longer a secret, thanks to Instagram! Hence Adrian, our mentor for the trip laid emphasis on avoiding the oft-repeated compositions. He explained the whole process of incense making and asked us to work on a series of images narrative of the process. All along, it was more of subtle guidance and suggestions, where we discussed lighting and compositions. In addition to being a very good photographer, he is a lovely person to talk to, and there was never a dull moment during the trip. We called it a day with a lovely lunch in Hanoi. I am glad I decided to go with Vietnam in Focus

Wonderful incense village tour - ask for Brian! - I had a fantastic tour of Quang Phu Cau incense village today - my guide, Brian, was a great teacher, offering tips on camera settings and perspectives, and advice on different vantage points. The courtyards full of drying incense are stunning, so vibrant and photogenic. We finished up with a nice lunch in Hanoi. Definitely recommend this company, they were easy to work with and very communicative.

Different and an unexpected highlight of my time based in Hanoi - Travellers often wish to see things that are very different from the activities in their own country and this ticked all those boxes. I was looked after to the 'nth degree by the staff from Vietnam in Focus. As well as a photographer to assist with camera and placement skills, Yen came as the interpreter guide. It was a fantastic morning. This is one of those places that one half of you wants to tell the world about the other half wants to keep it to yourself. The people working in the industry were happy to have photos taken, friendly and open yet carried on with their particular work. Personally I am delighted with the shots I have and now my screen saver at work is attracting considerable attention. Returning back to Hanoi, Yen very kindly invited me to lunch which again was a great experience . Thank you to all at Vietnam in Focus for this memorable trip.

Great for Instagram - Its an instagrammable spot no doubt but do not expect any massive colorful field! The display area is rather small and is often crowded!
