  • Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park - Once your tour begins, you will board our private tour vehicle and leave the city behind as you are transported to the Snow Monkey Park, located in the onsen town Yudanaka at the foot of the mountains. Your guide will take you along the forest trail which leads to the park and into Jigokudani - rather dramatically translating to ‘Hell’s Valley’. Home to the only troop of monkeys in the entire world known to bathe in hot springs, there are no barriers separating you from the wild monkeys, making this a unique and memorable experience.

Your guide will introduce these truly curious creatures and provide you time to enjoy the unique experience of observing them in close proximity. Make sure to bring your camera as you`re going to need it!

Beginning from Nagano City or any of the 5 popular ski resorts of Nagano (Hakuba, Shiga Kogen, Nozawa Onsen, Myoko Kogen, Madarao Kogen), your party will be collected in our private vehicle for your exclusive tour, concluding with a drop-off at Nagano or one of the same 5 ski resorts.

During this tour, you will explore the renowned Jigokudani Monkey Park and discover what makes its monkey inhabitants stand out. You’ll also savour lunch at a local restaurant, providing a taste of Nagano’s celebrated culinary scene.

Visitors will get an opportunity to amble the captivating lanes of the historic Obuse town, and appreciate its preserved Edo period constructions. Moreover, you will visit Zenko-ji, an esteemed ancient Buddhist temple boasting Japan’s first recorded Buddhist statue.

The tour also includes a Sake tasting activity with comprehensive commentaries from your guide (non-alcoholic variants are available).

Awesome Day in Nagano - Our guide for the day was Joyce. What a wonderful guide! She had a great cheerful disposition and engaged with all members of our group. The trip was a wonderful diverse experience highlighted by the snow monkeys. We had a great day with the playful primates and got many great pictures. The bento box lunch was very authentic and presented beautifully. Following lunch, we headed to a town where the artist Hokusai, who is famous for The Great Wave, has a museum and the animated vendors were happy to share samples of their wares. We finished by exploring the Buddhist temple and sake tasting. What a great day, a great itinerary, and especially our great guide Joyce! This tour is exceptional and highly recommended.

A great day in Nagano - We booked the private tour as we had limited time in Nagano. Our guide, Kevin, met us at the agreed spot and from then on we had the most wonderful day. The snow monkey experience was as brilliant as we expected, Kevin gave us the freedom to explore but also supported us to get the most out of the day. Our lunch at Hotarutei was magnificent. After that we were able to see art in Obuse as well as taste Sake. We also visited the Zenko-ji temple and were then delivered back to the meeting point. We wish to thank Kevin for such a highlight of our time in Japan.

Fantastic one day tour for families - Our family was f 5 thoroughly enjoyed our day tour to snow monkey park , the traditional Japanese lunch was an amazing experience and the food was spectacular . The Zenko- ji temple was a special experience at new years . We especially enjoyed the small town of Obuse as well . Highly recommend this tour for families . Personalised service and knowledgeable guide . Thank you see you again next year !

Relax and enjoy the guided tour - Endo was a fantastic guide. Do this tour for an amazing day in the Nagano area. The highlights of the day were the amazing traditional lunch and getting to know Endo.
