Excellent way to spend 45 minutes - Absolutely brilliant! Xander and Imogen made this tour so lovely. Xander’s commentary was a balance of informative and funny, but with quiet moments to enjoy the scenery with a glass of ice cold fizz on a sunny day. Nothing was too much trouble, I’d definitely recommend.

River tour through york - It was great even in the rain. Sat on deck they provide umbrellas but many were inside with hot drinks. Informative friendly staff. This was easy booking.

Unreal Crusie - Rafy was the skipper on our ship and he was amazing guide and told some really interesting historical facts. Worth a trip.

Great afternoon cruise - Excellent cruise along the river with informative and humorous information from the skipper who managed to do all this while skilfully navigating the river. Seats were comfortable and great views along the river.

Nice trip - Was a nice trip as boat trips go . However, we were sat on upper deck at the back and struggled to hear the commentary! Also no ice lollies left and it was a hot day so would have been welcome.

Well organised but uneventful - Due to the regatta being in we had a rather uneventful trip up and down the opposite end of the river missing all the historic sights of York hoped to see. Had we known we prob wouldn’t have booked it for Saturday. It was well organised and relaxing but not what we’d expected.

Boring. - The tour was pretty boring. The tour guide was speaking so quietly, with no entertaining tone of his voice (from what I could hear.. which was very little). The boat tour didn’t really showcase much of interest. We spent more time sailing along a country area with absolutely nothing to see. I was sat next to families with kids that were loud and distracting. I couldn’t wait to get off to be honest.

Ok, but disorganised and incompetent rescue. - Lacklustre trip where you only really see fleeting glimpses of York trough the trees. However, our boat broke down which caused us to have be rescued, but instead of returning us back, We went straight passed and had to do half the trip again. Utter incompetence when things go wrong.

Dreadful - Absolutely appalling. We booked in advance but received a text message at 8am on the morning of our ‘cruise’ to tell us that there was a regatta taking place that day and so the usual route would not be followed. I don’t know much about the canoeists of York but I expect that they would struggle to arrange a regatta in three hours and so can only assume this was arranged some time beforehand and that they perhaps gave some notice of it. There was no warning of this when booking and no opportunity for a refund….which we obviously wanted, given what we experienced could only be described as ‘a go on a boat’. The ‘sights’ comprised: some people’s houses, bushes…a LOT of bushes, a couple of bridges (personal favourite pictured) and some other boats. There was the opportunity to watch a Labrador chasing a stone on a little beach but this experience is available for free elsewhere. You could also ‘enjoy’ a hot beverage at the ‘bar’ if you like drinking out of grubby mugs that look like they might just belong to the staff. If you’ve never been on a boat before or would like to relive your youth by feeling like you’re on a really rubbish school trip, please feel free to part with your money. Otherwise, I’d recommend you go for a little walk and actually see some of beautiful York. Oh, and each of my emails to the good people of City Cruises has been completely ignored.
