Additional Information

Embarking on a 2-day Gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda offers an unparalleled adventure experience. Many individuals make long-term plans in order to witness mountain gorillas in their authentic environments. Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is amongst the four parks in the world where mountain gorillas currently reside.

This gorilla safari gets you up close with these gargantuan yet gentle creatures that live in social groups headed by the reigning silver back. Some gorilla units contain more than one silver back, signifying that either they accepted the leadership of the dominant silver back or splintered off to form their own troops.

The Volcanoes National Park is situated approximately 2 hours away from Kigali. Your journey towards the Virunga volcanoes, the home of the mountain gorillas, will present you with the beautiful panorama of ‘a thousand hills’. Trekking for gorillas will lead you into deep jungles in search of these giant creatures.

Outstanding experience. - The gorilla safari tour was one of my favourite this year. I enjoyed going on a hike and seeing different wild life on the way the to the gorillas. I would also recommend this tour to anyone willing to go on a new adventure since this is only offered in a few places on earth. Thanks to African Travellers for offering this service.

It was a well scheduled tour. - I thoroughly enjoyed the two-day tour, gorilla trekking and Kigali city tour, and it became a good memory. The flight arrived in Kigali at 8am, and the airport pick-up was smooth without any delay, and we went on the Kigali city tour. After that, we moved to Musanze and stayed there for one night, and the next morning we went on gorilla trekking. This was also smooth. It seems that you can choose the level of trekking from short to long, but I was assigned to the longest one, and although the trekking was long, which was 2 hours each way, I was very satisfied to see the largest gorilla family up close. One silverback was walking towards me, and because there was not enough width to avoid it, we ended up passing each other right beside each other, and the silverback touched me at that time, which became a very good memory. I recommend it.

Once in a Liftime - Trekking to see the mountain gorillas in Rwanda had been on my bucket list for years, JP and his team at African Travellers made it happen giving me a once in a lifetime opportunity. The two day package includes airport transfers, a city tour and your day at Volcanoes Park. JP will walk you through all the steps for the permit (not included) get you set up in a group of folks with similar backgrounds, helps you with the instructions from the guides and porters and is there to meet you on your return. You know you are good hands. Once you locate your gorilla family you get one hour to observe them before heading back. Don't forget to ask how you should dress, right down to hat and boots. You will need a COVID test and JP will set that up for you. Its free at the airport. The city tour emphasizes the 1994 Rwandan genocide which when fully understood makes you even more in awe of how far this country has come since then during what they call reconciliation. If you have additional time in Rwanda, JP can set you up with other game parks or cultural tours to your liking. There's lots of competition on the road to the gorillas, you can do no wrong in selecting Africa Travellers as your guide to some of the most fascinating creatures in the world, in one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. Thanks to JP!!!!
