The two Temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique style, are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt.

They reflect the glory and grandeur of the new Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these temples from the flood. The Temple of Ramses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and to Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also called The Sun Temple of Ramses II.The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also Called Temple of Hathor who was the wife of the Sun God so in a symbolic way, the two Temples, that of Ramesses II and that of Nefertari, bring Ramesses II, Nefertari, Hathor and the Sun God together as one. Spend around 3 hours there then take the way back to Aswan

  • Abu Simbel Temples - Ramesses II variously also spelled Rameses[6] or Ramses, ‘Ra is the one who bore him’ or ‘born of Ra’, Koinē Greek: ὀαμέσσης, romanized: Rhaméssès, c. 1303 BC – July or August 1213; reigned 1279–1213 BC[7]), also known as Ramesses the Great, was the third pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt. He is often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom, itself the most powerful period of Ancient Egypt.[8] His successors and later Egyptians called him the “Great Ancestor”.
  • Temple of Nefertari - This article is about the Egyptian queen and wife of Ramesses II. For other persons by this name, see Nefertari (disambiguation).
    Nefertari
Nefertari, also known as Nefertari Meritmut, was an Egyptian queen and the first of the Great Royal Wives (or principal wives) of Ramesses the Great.[1] Nefertari means ‘beautiful companion’ and Meritmut means ‘Beloved of [the goddess] Mut’. She is one of the best known Egyptian queens, among such women as Cleopatra, Nefertiti, and Hatshepsut, and one of the most prominent not known or thought to have reigned in her own right. She was highly educated and able to both read and write hieroglyphs, a very rare skill at the time. She used these skills in her diplomatic work, corresponding with other prominent royals of the time. Her lavishly decorated tomb, QV66, is one of the largest and most spectacular in the Valley of the Queens. Ramesses also constructed a temple for her at Abu Simbel next to his colossal monument there.

Great tour - highly recommend! - Driver and guide were on time and we arrived to the site before it was extremely crowded. It is a long drive from Aswan, roughly 3 hours, but you can sleep or relax during the drive time. The guides cannot come in and talk in the temples, but she walked us to the entrance and provided detailed information with pictures. We were given an hour to explore, might need 1.5 if it is extremely busy. Instead of just taking us to shops like some other guides, she asked what we would like to do and did not put pressure on us if we didn't want to go perfume shops, etc. They also did customize it to our liking and let us stop at an electronics store and a safe ATM. We did not feel rushed overall. I would recommend this tour!

Great ride, the driver... - Great ride, the driver played music in our language, covered windows to avoid sunlight while driving through the desert. He made us feel comfortable in such a long ride.

Great experience - Samir is a kind person who went and above and beyond as our guide in Aswan. Hamo, our driver for all of needs in Aswan, was also kind, helpful, and wonderful. Samir shared quite a bit of information with us regarding the historical landmarks in Egypt. He also spoiled us with snacks and treats during our tours with him. While he was not able to enter the temples with us, he provided us with a map to guide us in everything there is to see in the temples. Both gentlemen made us feel comfortable and safe during our visit in Aswan.

Great day trip to Abu Simbel - Great trip. We had the comfort of our own car. The guide Samir explained everything in detail during the drive and gave us a map of the temple for us to find our way around. He got us through the queues and made everything easy and enjoyable. It’s a little pricey for what you get but worth the extra money

Our driver was dressed... - Our driver was dressed nicely and the car was clean. His English was better, and he was waiting with the name sign at the arrival of the airport. Our trip started at 9:30 from the airport and we were at the temple at 12:40. All the tour groups were gone and very few people at the site. At some point we were alone in the small temple. We were back to Aswan a little before 6.

Good, but… - We have rated this experience with a 3/5 because of the following reasons: - it is too far, you will spend 6 hours in a car. 3 hour going and 3 hours returning. - the guide was nice he explained us everything but he always tried to sell us other tours and he was very annoying at the end. - the lunch was awful, the place was in a very dirty and abandoned street, don’t book this tour with lunch. Instead try to go with your own food. - the driver was awful too, he drove very fast, passing other cars. At one moment we had to ask him to slow down. On the other hand: - Abu Simbel is a treasure and if you like ancient Egyptian culture you will love it. You will only spend 1 hour and a half or two so be prepared for this. - we left from Aswan at 8:00 and we arrived there by 11:20. The most part of the tourist groups were already gone so it was nice to see the temples with less people around.

Not what we expected - Considering that the tour is quite expensive, the car was a bit old. The place where they take you to eat is not exactly a 'restaurant' so we preferred a lunch box which we then ate at the hotel. But the strangest thing was that the guide asked us to pay for the tickets with our credit card and that he would then reimburse us in cash. Of course we did not accept this. And in the end, despite the high cost of the tour, I suppose they expected a higher tip.
