Additional Information

Sheq Al-Reesh, an awe-inspiring chasm situated in the heart of the Dana Nature Reserve, invites hikers to wander through its exceptional landscapes, which include a siq, and discover small historical sites. You’ll come across juniper and wild pistachio trees, fragrant lavender and sage, and natural wells.

Even though this trail is shorter than some, it doesn’t compromise on offering intriguing topography. This zone is known for its one-of-a-kind limestone rock structures which are clearly visible from Dana, situated on the valley’s southern flank. Specifically, Shaq Al Reesh translates to ‘feather’s crack’, indicating a vast geological fracture in the limestone boulders, where you can find plenty of bird feathers since the area serves as a natural habitat for numerous species in the Nature Reserve. The path takes you over, around, and among these rocks, and its unique charm is sure to enchant you.

Our local guides are professionals with proper training and are part of the Dana Cooperative. By hiking with us, you will be supporting the local community’s sustainable tourism initiatives.

Visiting a recycling site - Very disappointed with this stay. Maybe I have not been informed enough about the destination. Hôtel similar to a hiking hotel, smell of naphthalene when you enter the room. But the real disappointment came from the hiking. It takes about 1-2km to have real nature. When you leave the “village” everything is full or plastic, rubbish… see pictures. If this goes on , no one will come to visit this so called nature reserve

Bad experience - We had to meet at 9 a.m. in the village square to do this hike. Unfortunately the guide never came and according to the inhabitants of the village we are not the first to pay the price Fortunately, someone in the village took care of us and was able to find us a new guide.
