The monastery of Hosios Loukas is situated at a scenic site on the slopes of Mount Helicon. It was founded in the early 10th century AD by the hermit, Venerable Hosios Luke of Steiris (Greek: Lukas).
His relics are exhibited in the Katholicon (main church of the monastery). They were stolen by the Crusaders during the 13th AD and kept in the Vatican for centuries.

Delphi’s history is steeped in ancient mythology and predates recorded history, initially being a sacred land devoted to Mother Earth and protected by the feared serpent Python until its defeat by Apollo. Our journey commences at the Osios Loukas Monastery, a monument of Byzantine art’s second golden era (11th-12th Century). From there, we venture to Delphi, known in antiquity as the ‘Omphalos’ or Earth’s Navel, its renowned influence reached beyond the Hellenic World’s confines. Situated amidst the breathtaking panorama of Mount Parnassus’s slopes, Apollo’s Sanctuary’s remains lie, the ancient world’s most revered oracle. We’ll also explore the Athenians’ Treasury, Apollo’s Temple, and the Museum housing extraordinary examples of ancient Greek sculpture. Following our museum tour, we’ll pause for a traditional Greek meal in Delphi and the village of Arachova.
