Prettiest part of DR - We really enjoyed our tour which turned out to be private. We were picked up on time at our hotel in an air conditioned van. Carlos our guide was excellent. I was able to practice my rusty Spanish. He was kind and helpful. He added on a cave to our trip that was unexpected and beautiful. The views from the mountain were incredible and the food was great. He helped us take lots of fun shots and shared some from his phone via WhatsApp. The best part was the incredible beach he took us to. Playa Limon. He gave us a choice of beaches to see and we chose Limon because it is pristine and totally private. It felt like our own paradise. Prettiest beach we’ve ever seen. Carlos was patient, attentive and never made us feel rushed. We set the pace and he seemed willing to hang out with us as long as we wanted everywhere we went. He was a safe driver too. Can’t recommend this tour enough. Don’t hesitate!

Amazing view - We went as a family, all the views and activities were very good, I would visit that place again without a doubt.

Ideal for ideating - I think it's a nice place, ideal to enjoy and be with friends and do all kinds of transactions.

Fun Excursion - Robinson was our tour guide and he was great! He even knew how to take great pictures of my husband and I. The mountain was beautiful and the food was great. The beach was breathtaking

Awesome excursion - ¡Tao es el mejor! He was extremely friendly and kind. We enjoyed talking with him. He’s was a safe driver. The mountain was absolutely gorgeous! I wish we could have stayed at playa Esmeralda rather than gone to playa Macao as playa Esmeralda was far more beautiful. Overall it was an excellent excursion and we would do it again!

Favorite tour and relaxing half-day - Of all the 3 excursions we did in Dominican Republican, this one (even thoguh closer) was our favorite. The guide, Robinson, was super friendly, attentive, helpful and making sure everyone was having a great time and even offering to take photos of us. He picked us up at the promised time and we liked it was a small group, only 6 people (including him in the van). From the beginning, Robinson played music, told stories and jokes, offered us bottled water and tried to keep us comfortable for the drive. Once we arrived, he told us where to sit in the 4x4 pickup to get good photos and enjoyed the view. We didn't have issues going up although it was bumpy, it is not a long drive to the top. The drive and the landscape and once you see Laguna Limon and the beach it reminded me of Hawaii. Once we were there, since we were there earlier, we had the place to ourselves. It was great, we walked around, and took lots of photos without being disturbed. I even used the hammock for a long time. We had some rain but it passed quickly and Robinson entertained us with his stories. Also, there were some guys offering zip line but we didn't try it. Then, around 11ish, it was time to eat lunch. The restaurant set us up in a private room upstairs to enjoy a nice view. The lunch had fried fish, rice with vegetables, salad and chicken breast with bell peppers and sauce. It was delicious and tasted homemade, everything was spotlessly clean. Of all the tours, this was the best lunch and there was plenty for everyone. After the lunch, we went to Playa Esmeralda. Our ticket said that but perhaps there was a mixup with the other group as Robinson told us that we would go to Macao Beach but once we show him the ticket and the other group agreed, we went to Playa Esmeralda. Playa Esmeralda was lovely, only 1 more family there relaxing and clean, no hustle and bustle, just the beach. Also, the waves were better for swimming, Macao is too rough for swimming. We were there for about 40 min, we swam, other people tried the mama juana Robinson had with him. After the dip in the sea, it was time to go back to the hotel.

BEWARE!!!!! - First, let me start by saying that I was really looking forward to this tour until things went from bad to worse. I booked for a Wednesday with an 8:30 start time. I had to inquire about a confirmation for our reservation on the Tuesday before around 12:00pm because I had not received any notification. That night (Tuesday) @ 7:32pm, I received a WhatsApp message confirming our reservation but asking if I agreed to changing the time from 8:30am to 11:25am. I explained that I had another prior obligation that afternoon that I need to be back for. Then, the company changed the pick-up time to 10:20am. I inquired about the tour being rushed because it would be shortened. At this point, I inquired about canceling because it was obvious that this tour was not going to work out. I was then told that Viator would only refund 80% because we were canceling less than 24 hours out. This tour company finally offered to reschedule us for another day at the regularly scheduled time of 8:30am; however, we were leaving the next day. I adamantly explained that I booked the tour based on the 8:30am start time to fit prior plans we had after the tour. I didn't change the time, they did, so why would I be penalized with an 80% refund and held to a standard I couldn't have met because they contacted me with the proposed time change 13 hours before the initial agreed upon departure. Had they had contacted me 24 hours ahead to propose that time change, I would have cancelled then allowing me my full refund. After that exchange, I was then offered a 9:20am departure time, but at this point, I was done because how can you go from 8:30am to 11:25am, to 10:20am, and then to 9:20am. All faith was lost in this company at this point. When I returned home, I contacted Viator customer service in an attempt to mediate this situation, and that basically fell on deaf ears as well. I've used Viator multiple times in a few countries; however, after this experience, I will be sure to better vet the tour platform and the tour companies therein.
