Professionalism at its best!! - I had the pleasure of working with Robert Mugabe of African Adventure Travellers to try and organize a Safari Tour of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda for a group of my friends. I appreciated Robert's prompt reply to my emails as well as his willingness to answer all my questions and make changes to the itinerary. Planning for a large group of people is never an easy task and in my case, I had to cancel our tour due to circumstances out of my control. African Adventure Travellers was very understanding and provided me with a refund of my deposit. I would highly recommend booking with African Adventure Travellers due to their exemplary professionalism. I will be sure to book with African Adventure Travellers in the future based on the excellent customer service I received. Sincerely, Philipa Mugabi

An excellent Safari Experience with African Adventure Travellers Ltd. - Review—Uganda Safari- African Adventure Travellers Ltd.-Dec 22, 2015-Jan 4, 2016. This was an excellent 13 day safari experience. The guide, Alex Gabiito, was friendly, knowledgeable and thoroughly professional throughout the duration of the trip. He went out of his way to ensure that we saw all the animals and birds that we had indicated to the safari company that we hoped to see. In all cases he was able to deal with a few very minor hiccups of scheduling, reservations and vehicle maintenance with absolutely no inconvenience to us. He is extremely keen on all aspects of Ugandan ecology and large mammal conservation plus he has a a special interest and knowledge of birds. He also expressed to us his interest in further studies of invertebrate groups such as butterflies. As well, he was able to answer all our questions about the people and society of Uganda. He has a keen eye for spotting and identifying birds and mammals from a distance. In several cases we were the first to arrive at an animal viewing site as a result. He spotted a lion that several other vehicles had passed by and we saw a leopard that another vehicle had passed only a minute before without seeing. The lodging/camp sites we stayed at were all of reasonable to excellent quality, at budget to mid-range prices. Some of the places we stayed at were suggested to us by the African Adventure Travellers Ltd. and others were chosen by us. Originally our group was to be 4 people, but one couple dropped out due to pregnancy. We had initially decided not to make an attempt to go to see the gorillas (costs for 4 people) and so we focused on seeing chimps, other wildlife and birds instead. Sarah at African Adventure Travellers Ltd. replied promptly to our emails and was able to tailor the itinerary and guide to meet our needs. She worked very hard to extract refunds from some of the places of accommodation, after we let her know of the late cancellation of two members of our party. In some cases she was able to sell our double booking to other tourists and then place us in other (better lodging.) Towards the end of the trip she phoned to say that we would receive a refund for some of the money. Her efforts on our behalf, at short notice were very much appreciated. All of the extra walks and boat trips that we added to our safari were excellent and we highly recommend them. The local guides were all knowledgeable and in each case we saw any number of different flora and fauna and habitat/landscapes we would not have otherwise seen from inside of a safari van. We chose African Adventure Travellers Ltd. over one other Ugandan company with a somewhat similar (but more expensive quote for our itinerary) on the basis of the reviews for the guides. From experience we know that you can not underestimate the importance of your local guide while on safari. Sarah understood right away from our proposed itinerary that we were particularly interested to see as much diverse habitat, birds and animals as possible in 13 days, so she assigned Alex to be our guide. We do not hesitate to recommend African Adventure Travellers Ltd. and the guide, Alex Gabiito for anyone thinking of a wildlife safari in Uganda. Itinerary: Entebbe Bot. Gardens(guided walk)--Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary(short guided walk)--Murchison's Falls (2 nights)(game drives)--Nile Boat trip to base of Murchison's Falls -- top of Murchison's Falls (short walk)--Budongo Forest Reserve (guided nature walk)--Kibale N.P (guided nature walk)--Crater Lakes (guided walk)-- Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary(guided nature walk) –Semeliki/Sempaya Hotsprings(guided nature walk)--Queen Elizabeth II National Park(2 nights)(game drives)--Kazinga Channel (boat trip)—Ishasha Sector (game drive)—Buhoma (photography)--Ruija Forest Road(drive)--Lake Bunyonyi(self-paddled canoeing)—Kampala. Birds: We saw at least 151 identified spp., and possibly more that are in our photos, but whose names I did not get down while we were driving. A complete bird list will be posted on the Fat Birder site. Larger Mammals: We saw all the larger game animals that we expected: elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Jackson's Hartebeests, Giraffes, Waterbucks, Oraibis, warthogs, & a leopard. Primates (11) included: chimpanzees, baboons, Black & White Colobus, Red Colobus, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, and Vervet, Blue, Red-tailed, Patas, l'Hoest, & de Brazza's Monkeys, Reptiles: crocodiles, Monitor Lizards, Blue-headed Agamas, smaller ground lizards, a still as of yet undetermined number of chameleon spp., No snakes. A more extensive report is posted in the trip reports section.

Perfectly wonderful private Safari - Our Safari was a trip of a lifetime. The seven of us spent six days at beautiful Lake Bunyoni, Bwindi National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park where we saw every animal "up close and personal": male and female tree-climbing lions, elephants, zebras, Kobs, buffalo, mongoose, hippos, crocodiles, a plethora of bird varieties and of course, most spectacular of all, our rendez-vous with a silverback gorilla family. The trek through the jungle was challenging but well worth it to spend an hour in their presence. Our accommodations were luxurious and our drivers and guides (Alex and Moses) were the best. All of our transportation, food and lodging needs were seamlessly arranged by Sarah, and the trip was flawless. As I was the one doing the organizing, I had some anxiety about making arrangements so far away but when I discovered African Adventure Travellers, they took care of every detail. Because we were more interested in seeing the animals than the scenery, I might have preferred to go north to see the giraffes rather than relax at Lake Bunyoni, although it was breathtakingly beautiful. Also, the trip west across Uganda along bumpy roads is very long and can be uncomfortable. You might want to consider either flying to the parks from Entebbe, or upgrading to Land Rovers. Be sure to be clear about your preferences and needs, because they will tailor the trip to fit your desires. Do yourself a favor and take the guesswork out of planning: this outfit knows how to put a great Safari together. I recommend them highly. (Be sure to ask for Alex and Moses for your tour guides and drivers.)

Great safari, friendly professional staff! - It has been said that the thing that makes a company great is the people, and I believe that African Adventure Travellers has lucked out with their staff and guides. Particular thanks must go to Moses our safari guide and Sarah N. who organised our 3 day safari at Queen Elizabeth park and a one day trip to Ngamba chimpanzee island. The trips were magical, and Moses was so patient with the kids' (age 9 and 7) whoops of excitement every time they saw Pumbas, cobs, monkeys and the lion! We stayed in Pumba Safari cottages (a slightly cheaper option than some) and the place was fabulous; only slight issue was that we arrived during a brown out and so didn't have any electricity for 2 days, however the place rallied and we ate like royalty and had endless hot water. Special thanks to Sarah N. and Robert who managed to organise a full refund for two of our group who weren't able to take part in the chimpanzee island visit at the last moment (their loss, although the speed boat was the longest wettest roller coaster ride I'd ever been on!). I would have no hesitation in recommending this company to others travelling to Uganda and looking to stray off the beaten track with experienced guides.
