All Saints Day is celebrated annually on November 1st. This unique festivity in Guatemala sees locals visiting cemeteries to decorate the graves of their departed loved ones.
Cemeteries come alive with color, music, food, and especially the sight of kites soaring in the sky. Both children and adults participate in this activity. The most impressive kites, which can measure between 9 to 15 meters in diameter, are true spectacles.
Although these giant kites are too heavy to fly, they are magnificent works of art, showcasing months of effort by local artisans.
