At 8:30 am, your private English-speaking guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel to embark on a day of adventure. You will be transferred by comfortably air-conditioned private vehicle to the Western Thousand Buddha Grottoes, at 9 am , you will visit 5 different grottoes on the cliff, the cliff used to be the bank of the river, today there are only 16 grottoes remained. It was a very important Buddhism place in the past time, the travelers from western part of China,after they got the permission from the governor of Yangguan Pass, most of them would like to stop at the Western Thousand Buddha Grottoes.
When you finish visit the grottoes, you will transfer to Yangguan Pass area, first , we will show you to a local farmer’s restaurant, taste the local food and walk around in the grapes garden.
Visit the Yangguan Pass & it’s museum.it located in a small oasis named Yangguan Town, it was a main gate a China from Han dynasty till later Dang dynasty..you will see the whole scenery of this oasis.
When you finish tour, you will transfer to your Dunhuang hotel.

The Dunhuang Research Academy (DHRA) is a national institution handling the preservation, administration, and study of the Mogao Caves (a global cultural heritage site in Dunhuang), the Yulin Caves (a nationally important cultural heritage site in Guazhou), and the Western Thousand-Buddha Grottoes in Dunhuang.
Today, we will have a guided tour to the Western Thousand Buddha Grottoes, which forms part of the Dunhuang Grottoes.
The Yangguan Pass, also known as the Sun Gate Pass, was originally founded by Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty. For thousands of years, it served as a significant customs point, but was eventually submerged in history under shifting sand dunes. Today, we can still view the location of the Yangguan Pass, an original Beacon Tower and a museum.
