The Kiama blowhole is an intriguing place. As you wait for a wave to pass through the connected sea cave an air of anticipation arises.
When a loud swoosh is heard a high pressured release of sea water occurs in the form of a spectacular spray. Just to make sure you get your fill of blowholes we visit a second contrasting blowhole which shoots a more stylish seawater plume.
Sydney is fortunate to have such a wonderful natural entertainment system within a 2 hour drive.

We kick off the day with a trip southward to the Kiama blowhole, with its surrounding volcanic stone that makes for the ideal route for mighty waves.
If the surf is intense, the blowhole’s spray can rise up to 25 metres in height. Next, we visit the smaller sister blowhole for another spectacular show.
After getting our fill of saltwater mist, we journey to the uncanny basalt columns at Bombo Headland. We walk around this otherworldly zone, taking a brief pause at Cathedral Rocks and then moving on to the Minnamurra Whale Watching Platform.
Time to head even northward to the dramatic Sea Cliff Bridge, which aligns with the curvy coastline and offers breathtaking views of the sea beneath.
We now face choices. At this juncture, we can either direct our route to Symbio Wildlife Park or trail into the Royal National Park for an adventure in the bush or a few quick stops at vantage points.
