The journey begins at Kotor gate, proceeding behind the Old town via an aged serpentine trail, which used to be the only link between Kotor and the rest of Montenegro.
Approximately 50 minutes of trekking will bring us to the Spiljari village, home to a single family. Their dwelling reflects the authentic lifestyle of the people in the past. A delightful terrace offers a magnificent panorama of the Kotor bay, providing a great location for a break. Here, enjoy the view while indulging in local delicacies such as smoked ham, cheese, or regional beverages. After a 30-minute stop, we resume our hike towards the fortress, passing through the wall that separates the village from the fort San Giovanni. A further 20-minute walk will get you to the top of the fortress, offering a captivating vista of the Kotor bay and surroundings. Constructed between the 9th and 19th centuries to defend the city from adversaries, this impregnable fortress is now a UNESCO-protected heritage site. Following a brief break, we descend all the way to Old town Kotor, where the tour concludes.
