Capo de São Vicente - We are a young couple who have spent their first holiday in the Algarve. We heard a lot about the sunset at the westernmost point of the European mainland and we wanted to experience it ourselves. By chance we came across Gabriel online and easily arranged a tour for the next day. It was the best decision of our holiday! We were picked up at our hotel at 18h and received a super friendly welcome. Gabriel chose a special road with a beautiful view into the hinterland with olive groves, orange trees and many other locally grown fruits. His family runs a farm and so he knew everything about it. So we drove from Albufeira further and further west. Via Portimao to Lagos and finally Sagres. The further west we went, the colder it got outside. Unbelievable how the temperature dropped from 26 degrees to 17 degrees. Before we went to the cape, we walked down the stairs to Praia do Beliche. Once we arrived at the bottom, we found a beautiful, deserted beach where a light wind made the footprints disappear in the light sand behind us. An unbelievable experience. As the wind came from the inland, there were also no waves and the sea was the silence itself. On we went to the actual highlight of this tour. We had already learned so much about the Algarve and seen so much that our day was already unforgettable. We arrived about 45min before sunset and Gabriel explained where the best places for photos are. Finally we were away from the other people all alone at the cliff and could enjoy the breathtaking sunset in peace. Next to us the cliffs went 70m down and in front of us we saw nothing but the sea for miles. An incredibly beautiful evening and one feels so small when one knows how big the Atlantic Ocean is. How Columbus must have felt when he sailed west into the unknown... Gabriel even behaved like a tourist himself and enthusiastically took photos himself. He was discreet and was in other places. So it was just the two of us and the sunset. After the sun went down, Gabriel surprised us with port wine and Pasteis de Nata! What an ingenious combination. I have never experienced such a culinary explosion of taste. Simply delicious. On the return trip we talked like old friends about life, family, life motto and many other things. Gabriel is a good-hearted person who cares a lot about his country and who is interested in contact and exchange with people from all over the world. I would describe Gabriel as a friend who shows you his country and not as a tour guide. He is much more than that! Gabriel, we wish you only the best and we hope to be back on one of your tours soon! Stay healthy! Glenn and Kim (first Capo de São Vicente tour after Corona)
