Highlights
  • Lancelin Sand Dunes - Stop at the Bakery for a toilet stop and food if you are hungry. Then we drive to the pure white, giant sand dunes where you can try sandboarding. Also a great place to take photos.
  • Nilgen Lookout - A beautiful nature reserve where we stop to see wildflowers in season. We either stop here or Hangover Bay depending on the weather and the group on the day.
  • Hangover Bay - A beautiful little secluded bay that was used as a meeting place by local Aboriginal Tribes. See the plant the Aborigines used to make fishing nets as well as numerous other plants used as Bush Tucker and Medicine. If we stop at Nilgen Nature Reserve we generally don’t have time to stop here as well.
  • The Pinnacles - See the magnificent Pinnacles Desert at sunset. Enjoy a barbeque dinner with wine followed by stargazing with Telescopes and Astro Binoculars. Here Dreamtime stories of the night sky created by the world’s first astronomers, the Australian Aborginals.

Enjoyable tour - This was a great tour. Skip our driver and tour guide was a nice guy and added to the enjoyment of our day. Great destination stops. The sand dunes were fun to sandboard down. The Pinnacles were interesting and the star/moon gazing with the telescope was impressive. Lovely dinner of 2 varieties of sausages, bread rolls, and about 5-6 different salads. Overall this was a great tour.

Definitely worth doing - The tour itself is a lot of time in the bus and probably if we went by ourselves would've wrapped this up in half a day. But what the tour really adds is the knowledge of the guides and the access to their telescopes. It was wonderful to watch the stars through them and the guides Gavin and Skip were knowledgeable and interactive and funny. The sandboarding was also really enjoyable. Food was yum and it was nice to have a glass of wine under the stars. Gavin's voice and his music were very soothing:) The only feedback i have is that the bus we were on has some sticker on the outside which makes the view from the rear windows very fuzzy. on a long ride like that would have liked to look out more.

Awesome experience, would go for it again… - Skip, the tour captain, was great, he was lively and had extensive knowledge of astronomy and made the star gazing all the more special by pointing out the different stars and constellations. Food was delicious.

Unforgettable experience! - From pick up to drop off and everything in between, this is a great experience. The guides were very knowledgeable, considerate and efficient. We loved the Lancelin sand dunes and the stargazing experience in Pinnacles. We just wished there weren’t that many flies. The nets provided were a lifesaver! The bush walk tour was skipped but we feel it was ok. The food provided were sumptuous and they even fulfilled my request for vegetarian food. Highly recommended!

Epic day - Thoroughly enjoyable day. The guides were warm and engaging, definitely worth asking them to point out any emu tracks too, and if you want any more wine as they seemed to carry spares. Top tip: you'll want to try and take pictures of the overwhelming amount of stars - practice with your phone before going so you don't ruin your night sight playing with the settings or leaving the flash on!

Memorable Experience - Convenient pickup points. Dinner with wine was simple yet good. Driver/tour guide was kind enough to get us nets to keep the flies away from our face. It was a great idea that there were more than one vehicle traveling together, especially when traveling back in the dark after the stargazing.

Worth it, if you don’t mind the long travel - The destination is far & trip was long but for me it is worth it. It is my first time to be in a dessert, so I’d treasure this experience. Stargazing was great! Since I live in a city, I’ve never seen so many stars for many years! Special thanks to our driver & all-around guy Skip for bringing us all home safe. Skip is great, he entertained us with with random funny remarks, he made timely reminders re filling our water bottles & using the loo, he pointed a lot of information when we were stargazing. I also love the sand boarding experience at Lancelin Sand Dunes, with beautiful white sands & blue skies!
