Highlights
  • Mountain House - It’s our pleasure to invite you to join us on an adventure to the summit of Pico Mountain! This is the most iconic and memorable experience in the Azores, ideal for those in good physical shape, even if you’ve never been mountaineering before.

Our meeting point will be at Casa da Montanha at 1200m where we’ll conduct a briefing with the entire group, go over the necessary equipment, and distribute our trackers before we embark on our roughly 7-hour journey to the peak at 2351 meters and back.

The trail is about 8km long and is entirely on volcanic rock with an average incline of 30%, offering challenging elevation changes.
In the initial segment of the trail, significant changes in breathing patterns and/or a lack of balance are warning signs, as they are indicative of the steepness and terrain type we will encounter over the next few hours on Pico Mountain, and it may suggest that the participant is not fit for the activity.

Participants over 60 years old or children under 12 are not included in the groups, please request a private activity at a different rate. All personal information must be filled out.
*The reservation is only confirmed if there are available spots at Casa da Montanha.

Great experience - It was a beautiful trip. Raisa was enthusiastic and cordial. She adjusted the level to the group, so we reached the top faster than expected. She shared information about Pico, but also about the area. An extra bonus was the ride to Madalena and the stop at the cave. Thank you Raisa for the wonderful memory and the beautiful pictures you took.

Exhausting - and worth every minute. - A strenuous but beautiful and absolutely worthwhile experience! The Pico was accessible, but the Piquinho was unfortunately closed to climbers. Our goal, a viewpoint above the crater, was also absolutely worth the strenuous journey. Do you have to be fit for the climb? Yes. The 1000 meters of altitude don't just happen by themselves and since it is a fairly steep route with unsafe ground, you need breath, surefootedness and a certain level of fitness. Our guide Raisa kept a close eye on every member of our group (10 people) during the 7.5 hour hike and was always there to spread good cheer and motivate.

I loved it, wonderful landscape, vineyards, the peak, the Cella Bar is beautiful, I liked everything. - Beautiful, beautiful photographs, the peak changes all the time, sometimes you can only see the summit, other times it seems to be suspended.

AWESOME HIKE - I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide up this strenuous mt! Raisa was very supportive and encouraging during this experience and made the effort to continually ask if my bummed knee was ok. This hike was not easy, but with Raisa’s upbeat humor and character she motivated all of us. I can’t wait to visit Pico again and hopefully cross paths with Raisa again potentially for an overnighter! Thank you for being so great and congrats on your 700th hike up Pico (:

AWeSOME HIKE with RAISA - Our tour guide was fantastic! Raisa had so much knowledge about Pico, hiking and the islands. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with her upbeat personality and learning more about the group we hiked with. Raisa made sure we stopped for small breaks, had snacks, water and also kept us on track with time!

Amazing experience - This was an amazing experience for all 3 of us! Raisa is simply super! She is a careful guide who explains the way and the environment with particular attention to weaker participants. This is a trek which needs a physical practice because of its long length (about 7 hours) but with Raisa it was more enjoyable than we expect.

Great challenging hike - Good challenging hike and stunning views. We started before sunrise, so it was not hot to go up and not so hot to come back. There was a cave on the way back which would be nice to explore without rushing down too fast :)
