Highlights
  • Maalaea Harbor - Embark on your seafaring journey with a snorkeling expedition that offers a little bit of everything. After departing Ma’alaea Harbor, we’ll aim for Molokini crater, giving you the chance to snorkel in its pristine, crystal-clear waters. A second stop at Turtle Town, a known resting spot for resident Honu, will round out a perfect morning before returning home.

Molokini is a marine reserve with spectacular water clarity and a pristine coral reef. Rated one of the best snorkeling spots in the world, this reef has a variety of beautiful reef fish and animals. More than 400 varieties of fish are found in the Hawaiian waters and more than 25% of these are endemic, they are found only in Hawaii. Occasionally we see dolphins, Whales, Manta rays, and Hawaiian Monk seals.

Turtle Arches offers a pristine coral reef system nestled at the base of Pu’u Olai (Red Hill) near Makena State Park. The caverns and ledges in the coral and lava create the perfect habitat for sponges, corals, octopus, fish, eels, and shrimp. The highlight of this reef is the number of Green Sea Turtles that call this area home.

The MUST GO TO EXCURSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - This is not a $259 snorkeling tour it is a $559 snorkeling tour. You check in, go inside the cabin and BREAKFAST IS SERVED! Then you motor out to Molokini crater to some EXCELLENT snorkeling and see a multitude of fish. Then a snack is served. You then motor over to the turtle sight, they find turtles for you and l watched one come up for air, and floated above him when he suddenly came back up and was in 5 feet of me for about 2 minutes. lt was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Then when you come back on board lunch (which should be called DINNER) was served (salad, vegetables, rice, and GREAT TASTING chicken) PLUS mimosas, wine, and hard seltzer in cans. There were 7 crew on board- Brie was the captain and the rest of the crew were EVERYWHERE making sure you had what you needed and wanted. NOTE- my wife is unable to snorkel so they told her to sit on the steps to put her feet into the water and in a few minutes gave her a yellow life ring and a noodle and she tapped me on the shoulder smiling. If you haven't figured this out by now THIS is the VERY BEST outing you can take on Maui and the VERY BEST COMPANY. I high encourage you to NOT MISS IT!!!!!!! P.S. the Haleakala Sunrise, and the Hana Highway are hard drives and I won't do them again. Alii Nui- I will do them all when I come back. THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS!

Amazing boat day! - This boat day was amazing! We did the 7-12 morning snorkel. They give you all appropriate details leading up to the boat. Where to park how to pay etc. The boat initially had more people than i thought it would around 30ish but the boat was plenty big where it did not feel crammed! I was hesitant when i saw how many people were lining up for the check in prior to getting on the boat but it was truly not a concern once we got on. Bre the captain was extremely nice, professional and laid back. She made everyone feel extremely comfortable. I would book another boat day with Ali Nui to have her as our captain! The crew was also fantastic. I love the details on them laying out your shoes upon exiting the boat, offering to clean your sunglasses and the phenomenal service of them clearing plates quickly, offering more drinks if they saw it was empty. Truly felt like a luxurious boat day. Friends of mine have done both trilogy boating and Ali nui and prefer Ali due to the more intimate / luxurious feel, hence the reason why we chose Ali! Highly recommend! thank you for an outstanding day :)

Excellent Molokini Snorkel - First time we’ve sailed with Ali’i Nui and we will be back next year. We took the morning sail to Molokini Crater. Excellent food, crew (Captain Gray), and snorkel equipment. They made the excursion fun but were professional and safe. The captain skipped the second stop at Turtletown due to reports of man of war biting snorkel ears that morning. So they stopped at the “blue shelf” for our second snorkel. It’s a very nice boat. Thanks to the crew for a great sail!

First class snorkel and dive experience! - If you want to book the BEST snorkeling and site seeing tour in Maui, this is it! From the moment you are picked up from your hotel, you are treated like royalty. The boat is first class, the crew is amazing and the experience is second to none. We had so much fun on board and with the included food, snacks and drinks, it made for a highly enjoyable day for our group. This is the best snorkeling experience we have ever had (25 years) and they offer a mixed snorkel and dive group. The food was amazing and they serve unlimited drinks (including POG mimosas and beer! Chloe was our first interaction with the team and I knew from the start that we were going to have a great day. All of our group was treated like if was a private cruise and it was our boat. The attention to detail on the sailing, the spots, the food... was just second to none. Captain Jordan was super cool and we ever sailed back on wind. If you want the best site seeing or snorkel experience on the island, book this trip!

The spirit of aloha on Maui - We had the best time snorkeling with this crew. Our 4 year old daughter had never snorkeled before and was apprehensive getting into the water. Mariah came by on her surfboard and let her bob around with her until she felt comfortable and then she jumped in and we couldn’t get her out. The entire crew was SO accommodating and helpful, sweet and made the experience perfection. Cannot recommend this company enough! Everything from the service, their warmth, knowledge, the food, even the photographer were all special and unique. 10/10!!!

A top notch snorkel tour - An activity that lives up to prior reviews. Swam aside a turtle, with a school of fish, saw a white tipped shark. Excellent breakfast, lunch, and drinks. Warm fresh water rinse, towels, and sunscreen included.

Will reserve with these guys at the same time as my airline. - Fantastic trip. My family has been scuba diving on the island for 20+ years. Came with some more water-cautious relatives this time out so opted for the snorkel tour. No regrets. Booked our second trip with Alii Nui as soon as we hit shore after the first trip. My little guy (9 years old) had a bad experience with another operator a year ago; by the time he left the Alii Nui, he felt like a crew member. My wife is a tentative swimmer in the ocean. Having crew in the water, engaged and attentive, set her completely at ease. We saw (up close) whales, octopus, eels and a reef shark (harmless, but really cool to see). I've been off Trip Advisor for a while, but these guys were so good, I felt I should come back. Recommend them to everyone.

Not worth the money - The molokini trip was just ok. It was Advertised as luxury and not crowded but it was not nearly that. There were about fifty people on the boat. Pretty crowded. Folks were struggling to find a spot to seat for breakfast. Food was meh. Booze was ok (think La Crema Sav Blank and Decoy Chardonnays. Maui brewing canned beers). Every stop felt rushed and there were far too many people there. We weren't there for the booze, so that crowd and rush killed the vibe for us. We paid close to $750 for two adults and a kid. We didn't feel like it was worth the money.
