These structures are essentially a series of interconnected rooms that share a ‘ruai’
  • a communal veranda where, in times past, cultural rituals were conducted. Upon reaching the Longhouse, the head of the community will welcome you and lead you on an exploration of the longhouse, where you’ll encounter totems, carvings, and various indigenous artifacts. The Ibans are historically recognized as the headhunters of Borneo, and in some of the more ancient longhouses, you may still observe skulls displayed along the ruai. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to sample their renowned ‘tuak’ rice wine, which is brewed locally, though this will be at your own cost. Following the visit, we will arrange your transportation back to your hotel.
