Ideal 3 in 1 tour experience - The tour was great. We walked through different areas that had cocoa and coffee beans at the different steps of their life cycle. Our guide made us delicious chocolate in front of us. It was perfect to us to get to experience both a coffee & chocolate tour and Monteverde night walk all in one! The night tour was about an hour and we saw a lot. Highly recommend a night tour in Monteverde because 80% of the animals are most active at night. Our guide was great and catered to what we were curious about.

Cool three-in-one combo tour for coffee and chocolate lovers - Good learning experience about coffee beans, chocolate, and some night wildlife in CR. We did have to find our own transportation to the tour location, but was able to enjoy free coffee of different roasts and types (and many bananas) as we waited for the tour to start. The group was decently sized and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us through the coffee making process. We also got to sample some different types of chocolate. This part however was not as hands on as we had expected (you won’t be making chocolate - the guide will do a demo for you). Finally, the walking tour takes you around the trails in the coffee farm. We got to spy on some cool insects and few mammals. Overall great value, informational tour

Night tour - Our tour guide was really informative and detailed. He did well to make a fun and exciting experience for our tour group! I highly recommend it!

First Class Unique Experience - Our guide, Geronimo, was super knowledgeable, personable and friendly. The entire company is first class. They will also arrange transportation for you at a nominal fee. There’s a bountiful gift shop of their products as well. It’s quite the experience - educational and extremely interesting. Would definitely recommend it.

Girls Trip - Our group of six women thoroughly enjoyed our Coffee, Chocolate and Night Tour. Our guide, Rolo, was very knowledgeable and was willing to take the time to answer all of our questions. His love of the wildlife was evident on our tour of the forest at night! 5 thumbs up!

Ok for chocolate but not for the rest - Chocolate part was fun, coffee was pretty bad… night walk was ok.. too many people and too loud. People were VERY nice and knowledgeable

Great tour, but a little expensive - The tour was great. We had an excellent tour guide. The information about Costa Rican coffee and chocolate was fascinating. I enjoyed the sample chocolate and coffee. The night tour was ok. It was just around the Don Juan grounds. Plenty to see, but I wonder if I would have seen more further in the forest. Main reason for 3 stars is the price. Not sure how it compares to others in the area, but price seemed a little high for what I got out of it.

Better book a different tour! For us it was a pure and expensive holiday rip-off. - We were disappointed with the coffee and cocoa tour and the night hike. During the tour, it was explained that the coffee there is more about quality than quantity and how to prepare the coffee properly so that it can develop its full aroma, and that this also means that it is not prepared in the coffee machine. And then at the end of the tour, the coffee is offered for tasting in large pump jugs, which is exactly what it tastes like. This was exactly the tour that was warned about on "Beware of holiday rip-offs" on TV and has nothing to do with the actual coffee production. Unfortunately, we were tempted to book this tour because of the good reviews. And on the night hike, there were no animals to be seen (apart from a spider and a gecko). It was only in the parking lot that two large frogs ran towards us. We know that you can't influence animal sightings, but we have seen more animals on hotel grounds in Costa Rica than on this guided tour, where the guide took photos with her cell phone when she spotted a spider. We had the impression that she was not experienced, as even on a zipline tour the local guide told us more about animals than she did on the night hike. So we were very disappointed with this tour overall and had expected more from the rather expensive tour. We would have liked to have bought coffee and taken it with us, but we just didn't like the taste of it from the pump jugs and we no longer had the impression that they really make coffee there, but that it was more of a pure and expensive tourist marketing exercise. What a shame. So we would recommend booking a different coffee tour.
