Any visitor to the Islands should visit this wonderful place, adults and children alike. - We joined the free 'tour’ that goes over one room and the main gallery at the historical brick building. The guide told us how to best enjoy the museum and to use our time. It was wonderful. It is such a treasurer that helps you to understand the vast history of the Hawaiian people. Go do this for your family. Other building there that we didn’t have time to see but we did find the Planetarium educational on how the First People got to the Islands. Not for little ones they get bored. You pay for the parking from a vending machine out front. There are many discounts offered for military and other qualified persons. You buy your Planetarium $3.00 ticket there. Lovely gift shop with fair prices on Hawaiian Made items. We spent about 4 hours but took our time and throughly enjoyed. Go!!

Great for us... and future generations - Loved it all. Especially the feathered Kahili room, and the sweet story of stone Kaneikokokala now 'staying warm'. He seems very happy.

Must go - Amazing museum for the family and to learn about history. Alot of exhibits were closed but still worth the experience and money. Look for a groupon for cheapest rate.

A LOT to see - This museum has a LOT to see about Hawaii's history through artifacts, but also some art and natural history exhibits too. There's something for everybody here. Be sure to allot 2-3 hours of your day to see everything. The ticket price is a little steep so you want to get your money's worth.

Decent Museum - The Bishop Museum is dedicated to Hawaiian culture and history. The main building is three stories and although there are a number of things to see, I found the museum a bit underwhelming for the cost of admission. I'm not sure if it's the presentation, but it's a bit dark in the building and the presentation of the exhibits was not that interesting. I learned new things about the Hawaiian culture, but in hindsight, I would not pay $30+ to visit the museum; I left after about an hour. I've been to many museums in the past 8 months, including the Louvre. The latter costs $24 (less than the Bishop Museum) and you can easily spend 5 to 8 hours in that museum.

Not worth the time or money. - There really wasn’t anything memorable about this experience. Some of the exhibits were closed and the others weren’t very interesting.

Go to Polynesian Cultural Center instead if you have kids. - If you have kids go to the Poly nesian Cultural Center instead. My 10 and 13 year old boys did not last long at Bishops museum.. The history is great for adults who want to walk around and read a lot. We spent 3 days at the polynesian cultural center and my boys never got tired of it. Its a more interactive, immersive experience.
