An outstanding guide - The concierge at our hotel booked this day trip for us and what a wonderful day it was. Our guide was Maria Maneva and she was excellent. As we left Sofia she pointed out many interesting sights. She gave us a wonderful insight into the history of Bulgaria and how life is today. On arrival in Plovdiv we did a walking tour of the old town with a wonderful commentary from Maria . It is currently the European City of Culture and well worth a visit. After lunch in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant we had some free time to explore and then back to Sofia. Maria continued to give us interesting information all the way back. We really enjoyed her company and thought this was an excellent tour. My husband left his sunglasses in the car and Maria very kindly returned them. If you are doing this tour(or any of the others on offer) I would recommend asking for Maria. She is a super guide and you are guaranteed a great day out.

A must see! - Plovdiv is the EU’s 2019 European capital of culture and deservedly so. Both the old and new city are beautiful. Wear not just comfortable shoes but your most comfortable shoes. Lots of walking up and down on rough cobbled streets at the old part of town. Had a bit of a hiccup when told that 2 more will be joining what we booked to be a private tour but they were good fun and the tour operator upgraded our set lunch to an order whatever you want to eat and drink one, so yeah we ended up being a merry bunch!

It was a private tour, and our guide was fantasticvery knowledgeable, flexible, and accommodating. We were disappointed as we werent able to go into the Roman theater as it happened to be closed the day we visited, but that wasnt the tour companys fault. The launch was a la carte at a restaurant, which was fine. Definitely recommended, assuming you wind up with a great guide like we had.

Great tour perfect way to see... -
Great tour perfect way to see Plovdiv in one day. We were picked up at our hotel just on time. There were out guide Stoyan Shirov and a lady driver who made it possible for Stoyan to focus on the tour not the driving an hour and a half each way.
Our guide Stoyan was just wonderful: Very knowledgeable about Plovdiv, Sofia, Bulgaria and European history in general as well as NBA, and more . Very accommodating making it possible to do the tour at our own pace. All in all, a very enjoyable day at a very reasonable price of US 90 for two people, which included: A nice private car with a driver, private outstanding guide and a nice lunch great value.

A special dish with 3 eggs and some cheese that is a typical meal specially in the interior of Bulgaria! Plovdiv does deserve a visit having a pedestrian área that connects with the historical places from the Roman Empire ancient time

The tour and the guide Nellie were... -
The tour and the guide Nellie were outstanding. Plovdiv is worth the visit. Our only complaint is that the lunch was terrible. It was billed as a traditional Bulgarian lunch. It was not. Bad tasting chicken was the fare. Tour company could improve the tour by fixing the lunch by allowing a selection of entrees, and outfitting the guide with a microphone. It was sometime very hard to hear given the crowds and road noise.
